While Extraction wasn't well received on launch, its actually still quite fun in 2025. The greatest limiting factor for this game is probably the repetitiveness of the gameplay, however it can still be really enjoyable to play. There's a somewhat low player count, so finding games with other people can be hard, but if you have friends to play it with, or check the game's discord server, the lower player count isn't an issue. I highly suggest trying this game out if you're on the fence about it.

You complain that the game no longer receives updates, play the game more ... to "force" the developer to make updates, only to complain after a few hours of playing, if the developer doesn't see normal activity that he no longer has the heart to make updates.

It's Good... But you need friends to play with... Alone it's really not that much good. I'm recommending cause it's a good game but 'YOU NEED FRIENDS FOR FUN IN THIS GAME'.

As gamers, we need to stop being so whiny and bitchy about things. This game has so much potential and was ended prematurely because of whiny little bitches whining about whiny little bitch things. The same whiners ruined Back 4 Blood whining about stupid whiny little bitch shit.
Game is pretty solid in concept and execution. Every problem I've had playing it has been due to other players either not understanding the concept of the game or the very rare troll. However, I fairly quickly got a lot of friends just playing publicly so I can always have somebody reliable to play with.
A standard mission is 3 maximum 15 minutes sub-missions. You do not have to use the whole 15 minutes. You start each mission on one end of a map, the objective you're given is the sub mission somewhere in the map. You can do the sub-mission or you can skip it and move on to the next submission. In each mission there are actors (different types of moving, sentient enemies) and nests. These nests spawn new enemies when alerted. If any actor sees you, they will trigger an alarm causing all surrounding nests to start producing enemies. If you die during any submission you will be covered in some foam shit. Your team will then have to move you to extraction. If you do not make it to extraction, you lose the operator and must save them in a future submission.
I like that mechanic a lot. It makes you have to learn how to use another character. Also, during missions, your operator can be injured. If you complete a mission but have lost a significant amount of HP, your operator will be out for a mission or two recovering, forcing you to learn other operators.
There are some enemies that are just aggrivating to deal with. Mostly just tormentors and Apexs. Tormenters are fairly common in the last half of the game. Apexes are still somewhat rare most of the time at the end game. There are strategies to deal with both, but they're just not very fun like the other enemies can be.
It's mostly a turn your brain off kind of game, but you can do a lot of neat and really fun shit with all the tools the developers gave you, too. While the game would have been worth the money if it was still in production, I don't think that buying it full price outside of thousands suddenly buying it would motivate them to pick this game back up for development, so get it while it's on sale.
It's not a bad game. Maybe watch a few live streams or join their discord and watch someone stream the game if you're curious.

I don't make reviews for any game usually but playstation doesn't let you write them and i just finished the better part of this game and felt it was necessary. played on PS5 mostly because my PC is too weak.
first off, I really enjoy this game. a lot of people didn't like it at launch, me being one of them actually. however, i scooped this on sale the other day and my PC could run it just well enough to get a taste of how the gameplay feels again and it made me want to buy it on my PS5 instead so I've been playing it on there just because my PC is old and this game actually has beautiful graphics that are worth experiencing. i play R6 more than any other game, and having a PVE game of any kind on the same engine is something i've wanted as a siege fan for a while so this scratches the itch in that regard.
also, while this game seems to have been designed with multiplayer in mind, the game play loop with a group must not have been very fun for me and my homies because i remember on launch we had this game installed for like 5 days and then uninstalled without bringing it up again actually haha ( thanks gamepass) it gets incredibly easy with a full team to power through this games missions. Solo is a whole other story though and actually I found it to be way more enjoyable when played on your own. this game kinda shines when you play it solo. solo play actually gets mildly frustrating but in a good way. stealth, kills through walls and droning out your location become super important and i personally have a lot of fun on this one.
would it have been awesome if they wrote a whole single player campaign and added custom lobbies with bots and wayyyyyy more options to siege instead? well absolutely but what we got instead is creative and sorta bold of them to do and as an artist i respect this game a lot for what it does do right. the maps are actually some of the coolest I've seen in a shooter game perhaps ever, my favorite operator is included so i can't complain too much about what it has, just what it lacks. everything that this game brings to the table is actually really freaking cool, but its like they brought out all the fancy dishes, the super nice tablecloth and invited some of your friends only to tell you the meal is coming soon and then after a while they said sorry the kitchen is closed.
it's crazy, literally ALL they had to do to make this game succeed was make anything you unlock in it available in regular R6. and make it so progress in this game does literally ANYTHING in normal R6 and this game would still have a bunch of players and a dev team that wasn't disbanded. these companies are true morons, this game would have done really well if playing it would give us renown in siege or something, or even if like a full 3 objective extract gave you even an alpha pack roll or something, they seriously missed out on something us siege players would have actually grinded. All they had to do was give us some consistent reward in siege, that's literally it.
i Like the game enough to play it on it's own merits and i really do believe that if development would have continued there would be something really special here. but what we have is a reminder that these companies have really talented employees that are getting squished by corporate greed. this could have been a really good series spin-off and i'm sad that I'm already at the final location running out of challenges to complete. maybe when i get a stronger PC i'll come back to the PC version for the high FOV settings and ray tracing.
I really hope they learned something from this one, greedy business practices killed this project before it even got to really start and that is incredibly disappointing because this game seriously had all of the pieces to become something special.
despite all of this, i still recommend it to anyone that really likes the rainbow six engine but wants a single player game. during the sale I bought this game twice, and while i could have refunded the steam version when i bought the ps5 version, I didn't because i still like it enough to know i will install it later on a stronger PC if that says anything.
my review is likely a waste of time on my part, it's unlikely that my opinion will influence anyone or Ubisoft haha, but in case somebody is reading this, give this game a try, there's a liminality to it that is hard to place a finger on.

this is a great game, and it works on linux. it is almost siege on linux which is why i play it, ofc i also really enjoy it, but...
not only does this STILL use the ubisoft connect launcher, previously uplay, but the game has been abandoned after only three or four content updates
personally i was really excited to see what the game would become and how it would evolve. but that is no more
it was abandoned because the revenue income for this game was significantly lower than siege
yeah, this should give you decent insight into what kind of company ubisoft is
