Cool shoot em up with a rogue like twist on things. Definitely a must buy if you like vertical shoot em ups. Works on Steam Deck also without having to change any settings.

Great game and cheaper than my coffee.
More streamlined and pleasant to play than Gunlocked (mentioned in another review), probably a better entry into the genre. Pixel art looks great.

This is a really great hybrid of the Vampire Survivors formula with a reasonably traditional vertically scrolling euro shmup. The audio visual presentation is great, and there's plenty to do.
I appreciated that, unlike something like Vampire Survivors that basically got exponentially easier with every beaten run and unlockable, Gunfield gets harder in a more traditional videogamey way with its endgame challenges and achievements because it asks you to beat runs without passive upgrades or without taking damage during bosses. This means that it’s your skill that has to level up and that fabled ‘winning build’ that most Survivors-likes are built upon stops being the main driver behind your success.
I liked it a lot. Well worth the few quid it's on sale for.
