I haven't felt this stupid buying a game since Calisto Protocal. This game is just a "Best of" repeating missions from EDF 4 + 5 with boring interludes talking about time travel that is a slog to get through. Entire missions dedicated to telling the player 1 line of "important" dialogue. If you have played any other EDF game you have played this one, they have not changed the gameplay since 2003. i got it for £20 get it way cheaper

Everything that makes EDF a great series is here at the peak of its form.

Just buy Earth Defence Force 5. Part of why I say that is the fact most of the levels here are re-used more or less in their entirety from EDF5 and then altered very slightly, when I say that I mean voice acting and all. You're playing the same missions with VERY minor variation from one point to the next, this game feels like a product of covid-19 development. It felt like they had to push out another game but were tight on budget and lacking on team cohesion. While it adds meaningful quality of life updates, like 5 did from 4, its not enough when you're paying the price of a full game to play less of a game than you played last time, because you play the same few missions over and over and over again, because the story is a "time loop," the story of the game does not justify the absolute rip off of playing the same few missions on repeat. While I enjoy the quality of life updates, sometimes even enjoyed bits of the story. Its just not worth buying and barely even worth playing. EDF 5 is the superior experience in almost every way except for some of those minor QOL updates. Don't wast your time on this one.

I enjoyed the game greatly when playing solo and with my buddy. The game was peak and kino right up until the very last mission. The final boss fight is the most boring and tedious fight I have ever had the displeasure of playing in. It was unbelievably dry. I won't spoil too much, but it involves a lot of waiting around and if you don't have some form of long range weapon, or if you're playing Air Raider, you're going to have a bad time. Outside of the final mission it was fun as Hell. Desync and model aiming was a problem, but I didn't have any issues nor did my friend in terms of enemies being out of position or our explosives killing each other across the map like some other reviewers did.

I never expected like, a whole lot from Sandlot from the first place. I am a lover of obscure jank games. However EDF is quickly outpacing the elements that justify it. I will likely continue playing the games because this is just what I am into, but at this point I will not recommend the games to anyone ever again. Every title is insanely overpriced, the dlc's are poorly thought out and unsuable while also being unfairly priced, there are never any updates to fix critical bugs and issues, this particular game did a new thing for sandlot games which is being DIRECTLY DISHONEST to the customers. They decided to trade in our trust for easier money. They may as well stop adding multiplayer into their games because this ones handled so poorly that the word jank no longer justifies it. This is unplayable. From now on I will never trust this company again to operate on good faith or to even care for the quality of what they make. Unfortunately it looks like one of the good cowboys from the good age of gaming have rotted alongside many others.

so i am a huge EDF fan and firmly believe that this game is good if you can look past is flaws and if there is something that is constant in each game you really don't need good graphics to enjoy the chaos and carnage that this game offers. something a lot of people forget is that EDF relies on its low graphics to leave room for all the explosions and the amount of enemies it throws at you. long story short stop expecting great graphics out of games like these and focus on fun factor the EDF games are a lot of fun and i highly recommend all the previous games to any one looking for carnage and huge explosions.

Shooting bugs is a fun time. Works perfectly well solo. Anybody who says you should play EDF5 first for plot reasons is a terrible liar - EDF6 has a better plot in the first ten minutes than the entirety of 5.

Devs fixed the bugs and got rid of the Epic stuff. Same ol' silly fun as EDF5 but with some QoL and a bigger campaign.

Peak EDF. The repetitive but fun gameplay, the goofy dialogue and voice acting. It all hits just right. My only complaints are that several stages are ripped straight from EDF 5 and collecting dropped armor boxes is STILL a pain almost 20 years later.

AMD crashes are fixed, and you no longer need an Epic games account.
