I tried AoW4 on a free weekend and I found out it is a woke consolized slop, this game instead is the last good Age of Wonders, and boy it is good, it is much deeper, old school difficult and with many mods, a very very good 100% PC game with UI made for PC.
If you are a newbie of this genre you will experience some friction here, because combat is brutal and mobs hit you like bricks (and this is the great part), that's why this game has less players, it is not for casual audience like AoW4... but in AoW4 you will find more defined cartoony graphics and rainbows everywhere, because that is the only bait of shallow games.
