Sideways thumb.
The powerups which change your weapon give you a lot of options: each has 4 different attacks depending on which button you press. You can end up changing your weapon multiple times over a very short period of time which I find disorientating. Each time this happens I have to re-learn what each new weapon does on 4 different buttons, and it just kind of throws me off the jibe and makes it feel like I'm re-adapting to the controls constantly as I play, rather than executing and having fun.
The level design has had some effort put into it, barriers that need to be shot/avoided and such, this aspect is mostly good.
There were times where enemies would appear on me without warning or I would find my ship being moved along very quickly.
This is probably one of the better indie SHMUPS of the ones that I didn't like enough to want to play through it. You have a lot of continues but they do run out, forcing you to restart from the very beginning. I made it halfway through the game on my first (and only) run, though.
