This game is good, but this version is disappointing. Basically, this version is not a port, but an emulation of the arcade version. The best version of KOF 98 UM is the Playstation 2 version, which is actually a port of the game, with more content. The PS2 version has 3D scenarios (but you can also choose 2D scenarios), has rearranged music, has a gallery and you can also edit the color palette of the characters. All these extra content I mentioned do not exist in the Steam version, which is called the final edition. How ironic, the final edition has less content than a previous version. SNK chose the easy way to make this version of the game, which was to emulate the arcade version instead of making a port of the PS2 version.
This is a recurring problem in re-releases of old SNK games, they always emulate the arcade version. This is not a problem when it comes to games from the PS1 generation because the arcade version is actually superior for not having loading issues. But when it comes to PS2 generation games, the arcade version is the inferior version because the console versions no longer have loading issues and have more content. KOF 98 was originally released on the PS1 generation but the UM version was originally released on the PS2 generation so it didn't have loading issues, the most correct thing to do would have been for SNK to have made the Steam version a port of the PS2 version.
Edit: There is a mod that allows you to have the rearranged music in the Steam version, but other than that there is no modification that brings the rest of the extra content from the PS2 version.
