More puzzles than combat and the combat is actually pretty tough. Especially in the beginning. Some of regular big enemies seem like they take forever. If you dig puzzle solving this is your game. The game is narrated by 2 people quasi arguing and that gets a bit annoying and distracting. For all its faults, its still fun to play. I'd give it a 6.5 out of 10. Best if you get it on sale
PS it says controller not supported, but my xbox controller works fine

Immortals Fenyx Rising is a vibrant open-world action-adventure game that expertly blends mythological storytelling with engaging gameplay mechanics. Set in a beautifully stylized interpretation of Greek mythology, the game places players in the role of Fenyx, a customizable hero tasked with saving the gods and humanity from the curse of the Titan Typhon. The world is expansive and visually striking, filled with colorful landscapes, mythical creatures, and cleverly designed puzzles that invite exploration and creativity.
One of the game’s standout features is its combat system, which feels fluid and dynamic. Players have access to a variety of weapons, including swords, bows, and heavy weapons, each offering different attack styles and combos. The game encourages tactical thinking by integrating stamina management and dodge mechanics, making battles with harpies, cyclopes, and other monsters both challenging and satisfying. Boss fights are particularly memorable, often requiring players to use their environment and abilities strategically rather than just brute force.
Exploration plays a significant role, with numerous shrines, vaults, and side quests scattered throughout the island. These locations frequently involve physics-based puzzles that are rewarding to solve and add variety to the gameplay. The game smartly balances puzzle-solving with combat and traversal, keeping the experience fresh. Fenyx’s growing arsenal of abilities, unlocked through a skill tree, enhances mobility and combat options, providing a strong sense of progression and customization.
Narratively, Immortals Fenyx Rising takes a lighthearted and humorous approach to Greek mythology. The dialogue between the gods Hermes and Prometheus serves as a charming narrative framing device, filled with witty banter and self-aware humor that pokes fun at traditional myths while respecting their essence. This tone makes the story approachable and engaging for a wide audience, blending epic moments with comedic relief seamlessly.
The world design supports varied gameplay styles, offering both open environments for free exploration and cleverly designed areas for platforming and combat challenges. Side quests often involve helping villagers, solving local problems, or hunting specific monsters, which add depth and texture to the world. Additionally, the game’s art style, with its bright palette and cartoonish character models, complements the mythological theme and adds a distinct personality that stands out among other open-world titles.
From a technical perspective, Immortals Fenyx Rising runs smoothly on most platforms, with minimal loading times and stable frame rates. The sound design deserves praise for its epic orchestral score, immersive environmental sounds, and solid voice acting that bring the characters and world to life. While some repetitive elements in combat and exploration exist, they rarely detract from the overall enjoyment thanks to the game's pacing and variety.
In conclusion, Immortals Fenyx Rising is a refreshing take on the open-world genre that combines engaging combat, clever puzzles, and a humorous narrative set against the rich backdrop of Greek mythology. Its accessible yet deep gameplay mechanics, charming story, and beautiful world design make it a compelling experience for both casual players and fans of action-adventure games. Whether you’re battling legendary beasts or unraveling ancient mysteries, the game provides countless hours of fun wrapped in a vivid and enchanting package.

Immortals Fenyx Rising is a genuinely fun, well-made game that might not blow your mind, but it absolutely delivers a great time.
The storytelling is surprisingly sharp, blending real Greek mythology with humor and charm. I found myself googling some of the myths just to confirm how wild they really were, and sure enough, the game presents them pretty accurately, just with a wink and a grin.
Combat starts out a bit slow, but give it time. As you unlock more abilities, it evolves into something genuinely enjoyable, especially during boss fights. The puzzles and world design also get better as you go. If the first hour doesn’t hook you, stick with it—it only improves.
Yes, it gets called a Breath of the Wild clone, but let’s be honest, if you're going to borrow, borrow from the best. And this game puts its own spin on things in a way that works.
There are no major flaws here. It’s not a masterpiece, but it’s refreshingly solid. A B+ across the board. That might mean it’s a little forgettable in the long run, but during the 25 or so hours you’re playing it, you’ll have a great time. If you’ve been disappointed by other games lately and need something reliable and satisfying, this is a perfect palate cleanser.
Note: I didn’t play the DLCs because they weren’t reviewed well, but the base game is absolutely worth your time and money.

Frankly, this expected my expectations. You shouldn't expect it to be a masterpiece, but when discounted at 5 to 10 bucks, you get 20 to 40 hours of good gameplay. Solid game to pick when on discount and if you don't have anything else to play at the moment.

I’m never touching this again
I wanted to like Immortals Fenyx Rising. I really did. The world is pretty, the humor’s fine, and the puzzles could have been fun… but nope, the game decided to ruin everything with the absolute worst flying mechanics I’ve ever experienced.
Gliding? More like slowly losing the will to live. Every time I try to land somewhere, I either faceplant ten feet short or overshoot into the next zip code. Half the puzzles require this garbage too, so it’s not like I can just ignore it. Oh no, the game forces you to wrestle the controls over and over like some kind of sadistic test of patience.
It’s not even “fun frustrating,” it’s just pure WHY WOULD YOU MAKE IT LIKE THIS? frustrating. Miss a platform? Enjoy starting all over. Need to adjust mid-air? Ha. Good luck steering that drunken paper plane you call a hero.
Honestly, the gods in this game could’ve just skipped the whole “evil monsters” thing and locked me in a never-ending flying challenge. I would’ve begged for sweet release in five minutes flat.

An Ok adventure game. While not the best game ever and can be boring quickly its worth a play.
Puzzles are frustrating though in this game, and often repeat in phases, but not the same puzzles.
I found the puzzles confusing. Maybe worth a look if you like adventure and combat games.

This is in many ways a "typical" Ubisoft openworld game. Bland world. Bland combat. Bland fetch quests. Bland leveling grind. Annoying puzzles. Bland humor. Overall, it just feels empty and soulless.
I wanted to like this one. I wanted to enjoy the lighthearted Greek Mythology theme. I wanted to enjoy the more zelda-like art style. I wanted to give the game a chance. But it just left me feeling like I wasted my time. Combat was boring. Endlessly climbing identical grey rock walls was boring. All the grinding necessary to get cool gear or upgrade my health or stamina felt like repetitive filler.
There is always a certain amount of cognitive dissonance when playing an Ubisoft game. Usually it stems from them trying to convince me that their cult of anarchist murderers are the good guys (AC Black Flag is my favorite!). The breaking point for me with this one was the quest around Aphrodite. She's basically had a change of heart and realized how selfish and vain she used to be, and how that caused the world a lot of problems. Problem is, in order to progress our main plot, the protagonist needs Aphrodite to go back to her selfish ways. The game gives the moral justification for this reverse-character arc by saying: "If you're beautiful and a nice person, you're just annoying. So it's better for the world if you're a jerk. Imagine how much fun we'll have with all the discord and war you cause?" Huh? Now to be clear, my problems with this are two-fold: the fact that this narrative justification exists and how poorly it's handled. This is a game. I don't need the game to justify why Aphrodite needs to be returned to her former self instead of trapped in a tree. I know this game is about restoring Greek gods so we can take on Typhon. I don't need a poorly constructed character arc to justify that. But to make it worse, instead of focusing on the plot reason for restoring Aphrodite (defeating Typhon), the game's narrative goes out of its way to convince us that caring for others is dumb and it's way more "fun" to be selfish, plus [insert lame joke about Hermes' hair]. Literally, the game makes a dumb joke about another character to distract us from the fact that this is terrible writing, terrible plot-justification, and a terrible character arc. If this were a short throw-away quest, maybe it wouldn't be a problem, but I've been working toward restoring Aphrodite for about 4 hours of fetch-quests at this point. I'm out. There are better generic openworld games for me to spend my time in.
I would have loved to play a fun lighthearted romp through Greek Mythology where I got to restore Olympic gods and defeat Typhon. Unfortunately, that's not what this game offers.

I can see why some people think this is a hidden gem.
Then again, I also see why many people do not think that.
Immortals Fenyx Rising is a hard one to review because in individual playthroughs I found a lot to like about the game, but in total it's so padded that the good things about it come too infrequently.
The open world is nice but IMO not as nice as Assassin's Creed Odyssey which this is kindof a splinter off from. It's very cartoony and bright but lacks the realistic wow factor of AC Odyssey.
In typical Ubisoft fashion the game is a big open world map with hundreds of icons scattered around denoting various activities and chests to collect. Each individual activity can be cool and include interesting narration from Zues and Prometheus on various greek myths. The puzzles can be quite fun and the combat for the battle chests is serviceable.
So why is it not an instant recommendation? Well for every unique puzzle you get (like a dungeon that is basically just 3 progressively more difficult pinball games) you get a lot of repeated "push block on pad" puzzles. Every activity, from the puzzles to the chests you need to kill monsters to open, feels like it repeats a bit too often to keep fresh.
If you play like 30-60 minutes a day you probably won't notice but for big sessions you quickly start to feel the repetition. The padding also compounds an issue with the skill system: the combat can feel very basic until you manage to unlock several abilities. So the combat isn't at its peak until near the end of the game, which is normal, but you spend so much time getting there you have an uncomfortably long time where the combat feels terrible.
Near the end of the game is where it actually starts to shine. Difficult enemies are balanced out by the player having stronger abilities and the fights get way more epic in scale. On a random dungeon you can suddenly be faced with legendary monsters which make the fights more satisfying since you're not just exploding generic thugs.
I like the characters and writing but, again, because of the padding it feels like we get a relatively light sprinkling of both. I think you could cut out an entire 1/4 of the main island and be better off.
So overall I think I can recommend it when it's on sale for open world game fans who don't mind a bit of padding. It's not so much a diamond in the rough as a diamond lost in the couch cushions.
