I love the stroggification scene.

Still remain My fevorite in the Quake Series.

With a bit of ini modifications this game actually runs really well on modern specs. Gunplay is solid, and the campaign keeps you going and on your feet the whole time. My biggest gripes are the levels that take you OUT of the action. Something about this era in game dev made people believe that you NEEDED multiple vehicle/rail sections. That's where this game feels its worst, in my opinion. Enemy variety is pretty decent, though i do feel the game relies on ambush tactics pretty heavily, which wouldn't be a problem if getting slapped in the chest by a strogg didn't hit like a truck. Great game if you want to kill a few hours shooting alien scum and reliving the glory days of id Tech 4

exellent gameplay and storyline, long and exciting levels and characters

fun game but you can't change the quality of the graphics, I even followed a step by step video for the config files and it only created more problems for me. It looks like absolute shit and its incredibly annoying to have to play with the visuals looking like something that came out of a Playstation 2 game. Absolutely no excuses for this.

Quake 4 never quite feels like a true Quake game, but when judged in a vacuum, it is a solid shooter. Like Doom 3, Quake 4 takes gameplay in a slower direction. It is just a shame that this style of gameplay has not aged as well as its predecessors. Anyone who likes slower shooters with horror elements will likely find fun to be had here, but for those who are fans of the old Quake games, this may be a disappointment. PROS: - Great graphics for the time, looking a lot like Doom 3 (running on the same engine) - Fun gunplay, if a bit too slow - Mostly solid enemy roster - Usually fun vehicle sections that keep the game feeling fresh - Decent multiplayer, though not nearly as good as Quake III's - Okay value, taking around 5 hours to complete CONS: - it is disappointing that the Quake series has largely chosen Quake II's setting as its focus, instead of the far more interesting setting from the original Quake - Some weapons feel far too underpowered to be viable, even late game additions - Configuration may be needed to run at modern resolutions

A highly underrated Quake game with satisfying punchy gun play, a great atmosphere, and decent sci-fi story. Also plenty of body horror. Still worth checking out today.
