I was looking forward to immersing myself in the feel of the 00s, when things were starting to look good. The game isn't very interesting or good looking, though, by today's standards. Still, I would have played more, but alas...
⚠️ The UI will be stretched if 1920x1080 is enabled (to do that, don't forget to switch to wide aspect ratio, 16:9). There's no real fix, but this mod makes it and everything else in the game look much better.

❌ At least some of my save games were removed when I quit and re-launched the game. I found reports, but no fix. This is what caused me to uninstall the game, instead of playing further: why bother if the next time you launch it you'll be thrown 30 min back in your playthrough.

Great game. Despite being an old game by today's standards, it is arguably more engaging than most modern first person shooters. It's action packed and you don't have to think about the plot too hard. Overall, it's a 9/10 for me, I love this game

I have loved this game for years and still love it. From the downbeat, it is right in your face. I have always been a big fan of the Strogg in every one of their game appearances, and this takes it in directions not visited in the other titles.
Happy to revisit after so many years!

As one of the most underrated sequels of all time, Quake 4 gives off an amazing continuation to the Quake II story and bringing an amazing shooter with beautiful visuals, audio, characters, plot, atmosphere, difficulty etc.
Despite it being the weakest of the singleplayer Quakes, it is still VERY MUCH WORTH IT if you are looking for a Call of Duty alternative and also a continuation of Quake II. That ending still makes me wonder and shake in my shoes to this day.

I played this game when I was little, but didn't finish the campaign. I'm 21 now and I fisnished the campaign with great pleasure. Old, but such a beautifult and wonderful game. I recommend it.

When I first played it back in 2005 I was very disappointed.
It felt like it was confused on being a contemporary game and a classic one.
However 20 years later it makes sense as the perfect middle point between retro shooter and modern shooters.
What was a mediocre title then is now retroactively amazing!

Suprisingly fun but stained with typical early 2000s graphics, greenish metallic washed colors and lighting. It's still a Quake game but with some scary stuff unlike DOOM 3 being a step in total different direction. It still has creepiness of other games and cool gunplay. I did not waste my time. Where QUAKE 5 ?

A great game. Straight to the point action, graphics that still look great even 20 years later, and simple enjoyable action with a variety of great guns. Easily recommended. This game was seen as mediocre back then, but in today's market, its better than any fps that has come out this year.

This game feels like a mix of Quake 2+3 and some Doom.
It was released in 2005 so the graphics feel very Xbox-ish.
Played for a bit, game play is simple so far, just run and gun and so far, has soldiers that accompany you on a mission.
It's not a bad game, it may have been released during a bad time and had a bunch of competition.
I am def going to look into some graphics mod for this but so far, I am liking it. Been needing a Quake fix!

A great shooter for it's time, and one of the best campaigns in the series. Lots of fun set pieces, clever placement of enemies, weapons that feel good and can be upgraded, Enemies have decent variety in mechanics and looks to keep fights fresh. Exploration is minimal but you can find bonus armor in some places. Lots of turret sections, which i found a little stale but they dont go on for too long. Gory level decorations and impressive views are fun to look at, even if levels can get a bit repetitive. Totally worthy of the name Quake
