Game is hella sick and accessible which is the best part, while easy to pick up it has depth just like any other fighting game, it's always a game you can pick up and have fun with even after a while of not playing it, and just like most anime fighters it has characters that can convert from specials from fullscreen which is normal in this sub-genre, if that's a deal breaker for you then you're better off playing SF6 with it's honest neutral and deep- oh wait nvm

Game is enjoyable.
For a person without good hands the special moves are not frustrating, the art-style is fun and I like the setting. Good fighting game to pick up with friends.

Whether youre a fighting game newbie or a veteran who just enjoys playing neutral, Granblue Rising is the game for you
With a lot of fighting games on the market right now, I think where granblue shines above the rest is its simplicity, controls for every character is straightforward, and gameplans are simple. Characters are also very tame: movement is on the slower end, even jumping is pretty weak, damage is relatively low if youre not in a corner, and each character only has one or two gameplans for circumventing block.
"With such low power, wouldnt gameplay be lame?" I hear my anime-fighter brained friends asking. But Im happy to say, not at all. because of this, your forced to, and heavily rewarded for, looking at your opponents patterns conditioning your opponents, doing mixups, and overall relying more on the actual fundemental gameplay loop of a fighting game rather than just looking at your cool characters gimmick. The game is more complicated than something like fantasy strike, so it will feel fun to play again and again, but its not so complicated to the point where youll need to learn large combos to exceed beyond the low ranks. In other words, you play much more fighting game per match than you would in something like GGST or even Street fighter, at least in my opinion as a neutral lover.
But if you fear for losing your fun character gimmicks, fear not! The cast for this game is huge and varied, and while the fundamentals of poking and dodging are the same amongst the cast, every character has really strong specials that let them cheat this low power system in some way. From Ladiva's arsenal of command grabs, to Ferry's full screen pokes, so Charlotta's treasure trove of rush down specials, every character gets to shine in their own way, and they feel very vibrant against the rather straightforward universal systems. At the same time though, no character feels so daunting that id recommend new players shy away from. The easy input system and the lack of large combo chains means that any character on the roster is friendly enough to pick up and play.
Its worth noting that for those who love fighting games for the feeling of mastery, this game offers a lot less in that regard than others in the genre. Even basics like technical inputs are only barely more useful then their easy counter parts, and while you could learn some combos for max damage from central stage, these will still be relatively small by fighting game standards, and the benefit you gain from optimizing things like corner combos is pretty small compared to a new player just using every ex special in a row. In other words, look elsewhere for the feeling of mastery
Still, if you enjoy the mindgames conditioning aspect of fighting games, Granblue has is distilled to a T, and I find its neutral game to be much more enjoyable than other games in the genre. Despite how easy it is to pick up, I feel like this game really gets what I enjoy about the genre, and hasnt overcomplicated that.
If youre a new player as well, the game is probably the best game to learn fighting games with on the market. It takes things slow, has very few buttons, doesnt require you to learn technical inputs at first, but will still reward you for doing so later, and has pretty much every kind of character under the sun.
Overall, while granblue might not shine the brightest among its competitors when it comes to flashy specials and high octane gameplay, its still the fighting game I find myself coming back to most. Games like Strive and SF6 have come and gone for me, but I feel like im always down for a few rounds of Granblue

It is mostly the same game as the original GBVS, but there are some big changes.
pro:
- Combat is much smoother than in the original. The new mechanics make it so you don't sit on your resources all day, you have more tools available and it feels less sluggish to play.
- The game is even more accessible than before and it already was one of the best fighting games for beginners before Rising came out.
- Despite being "easy", player skill still matters a lot. The pvp ranking system is D

Terrible balance and mechanics. The devs are unwilling or unable of fixing the issues and every patch adds more issues than they fix. Too bad this game could of been better, but as its stands its wasted potential.

It's just more GBVS! With extra sauce! My buddy and I loved the original, and I'm hoping we can continue into this version. (Unrelated but I really hope we get an Umamusume character as DLC. I want to drink my friend's tears.)

Haven't played a lot of Granblue yet and have only played Guilty Gear Strive before in terms of fighting game experience. Granblue is such a refreshing change of pace because you're not getting your organs scooped out humped and set on fire before being thrown in a meat grinder by the same 5 characters who should be arrested for the oxygen they steal.
Match ups are generally just more fun to play and aren't nearly as depressing as realising that the half screen flick of a 'grappler' trying to give you an unauthorised colonoscopy was only the prelude to getting kara canceled Pot Bustered on wakeup for the next 40 seconds as your insides are vigorously raided and then having to list such an encounter as your 13th Reason Why.
Also Sandalphon is pretty cool.

Ok, I'm a big GF fan, so of course my review is going to be a little biased XD. But I'm also a fighting game enjoyer, and that's why I can say GBFVR is a great fighting game. If you know nothing about GF, this game can be a proper entry into a big world full of beautiful characters and stories.
A VARIETY OF OFFLINE MODES
•Story mode is great if you're a fan, it has a visual novel style of story telling with a lot of fighting and bosses along the way;
•Classic Arcade Mode where you can fight your way through battles and even fight secret bosses;
•Survival mode;
•Gallery;
•Customization and Figure Studio (My favorite mode!!).
VARIETY OF ONLINE MODE
•This game has an amazing lobby. The best Arcsys has ever made;
•Ranked and Casual matches;
•Lots of customization options;
•Grand Bruise is a great and fun addition;
•Yes, it has rollback netcode.
CONSTANTLY BEING UPDATED
All in all, you have a LOT of content in this game and it's receiving constant support and updates and additional characters and battle passes (those are really worth it). It has a big fan base so you can encounter matches fairly easy.
As a fighting game, GBFVR is beginner friendly and easy to pick up and doing cool stuff, but if you want to be fancy and know your match ups, you gotta put in the effort and learn the mechanics. It's such a fun process. There is much more to this game but I'll leave it at that.
TOTALLY RECOMMEND!!
