It's a good fighting game. Is it better than other fg like DB:FZ, or SF/Tekken etc ? Ehhh... I wouldn't say so. Is it fun? Yep, it is. If you're searching for a fighting game with complicated combos, tons of moves to use/combine during the fight etc... This game is not for you. If you're searching for something CASUAL. Like, more simple, with less punishment like in DB:FZ game where people are switching between tons of chars to combo you from 100 to 0 - yep, this is the game what you would enjoy. And if you like Grandblue overall (played in mobile games + Relink) - then it's also a game for you. It has many iconic characters, they also have interactions at the beginning of the round and at the end of it. It has good soundtrack, flashy moves, simple combos and many other stuff what Grandblue enjoyer would enjoy. I didn't dig much into ranked games, but was enjoying doing casual matches. After playing in games like SF it was very easy to understand how and what to combo. Hell, you can even just spam skills and it will already be enough for you to beat most of the gamers there. The only time when I lost was when I fought a match against level 600+ Bellal (and he was also from Asia region so...). Verdict: The game is fun. But if you're searching for something more complicated on the level of Tekken - you will not find it here. ALSO, I would recommend to buy this game ONLY on sale. Don't buy it full price. But that's imo.

In all it’s a very fun fighting game. It brings back memories of playing Mortal Kombat with the guys and they he characters are so unique and memorable. I was already playing Granblue Fantasy before starting GBVSR and to be completely honest, it makes me giddy seeing my favourite characters be brought to life like this. If you’re looking for a SOLID (and I do mean that in the best possible way) fighting game with awesome character mechanics and is just downright fun, this game is worth every dollar. That’s a promise!

Probably the best of the Guilty Gear-style fighting games. I'm not familiar with Granblue lore, but the characters are super fun and this has been fun to play with friends.

I've played Street Fighter, Guilty Gear, Blazblue, Smash, and a few others, but this one's my favorite. ACTUALLY easy to learn, difficult to master. Feature complete with a story mode, a stacked roster, and several more on the way. Good game, worth the 50 bucks I spent on it.
A worthy successor.
When this game released it kinda rubbed me the wrong way, because I already owned the original GBFV and paid for their DLC there, so Rising seemed like selling me the same game twice. That's why I held off my purchase until there was a deep discount. But GBFVR turned out to exceed my expectations and is a very good game. The best way to describe it would be comparing with other fighting game franchises having done similar things in the past for example Streetfighter Ultra editions, Dead or Alive 5 Last Round to name classic examples. You pay again, get whatever DLC there was in the first game now as standart, and have to buy two further season passes if you want to enjoy all the new (and upcoming) characters of Rising.
A few things this game does exceptionally well over other fighting games:
- They put a lot of effort into intro and outro dialogue and combatant interactions. No lazy copypasta here. - It has a good mixture of male and female characters to chose from. Most games either got only waifus or only bros but offer little for people who wanted to play as the opposite gender. - The visuals are on point for an anime fighter. Looks super sleak. - It is very easy to play and casual friendly, which is an absolute must for plebs like myself. - You can unlock former battlepass costume rewards with earnable currency if you don't play enough to ever get a pass done. - There are many small fun things such as a chibi of a character of your choice talking to you.
Why for me personally Rising fits better.
I only play the game very casually. I don't fight online. I mostly spam arcade mode when I'm online and try to raise some character levels. The first game had a lot of story content that I wasn't really interested in, and it had much fewer fighters to chose from, as well as no hidden bosses, so it gotten boring quickly. I feel like Rising is more motivating due to the many little things it has and small rewards that you get for playing even if you aren't fully commited exclusively to this game. These devs cared about evolving their product into something that all audiences can enjoy. And obviously selling the game twice and adding more DLC *caugh caugh*. But I also feel like they deserve the additional funding for a job well done.

I bought this game because I really like the demo version. I mean, we really got a grasp of everything we need to know in the base game. But I ended up loving this game. Also, the roster is HUGE with every type of fighting characters archetypes. The game itself is one of the easiest fighting game I've ever played, input-wise.The combo system is really easy except for some characters, but still learnable. The online was great and the matchmaking was fast. The communities are very helpful. To wrap everything up, I give this game 9.8/10 because the lack of magic users.

Defense is insanely strong in this fighting game. Almost none of the characters are able to run true mixes. Everything is fuzziable. You need to rely on solid footsies and unreactable full screen stuff to kill oponnent. It's very neutral heavy. But has stupid neutral tools, like 66L and some other stuff various characters have. Also. Even though, it's neutral heavy, it's very modern in a sense of damage dealt. It's NOT a low damage game. You will eat 60% lifebar combos. If you desire to start, I will recommend to learn combos that start of your neutral pokes. And combos that start from 66L. And combos that start from 2H. And if you are new... Please. Block on wakeup. Don't be silly.

The street fighter of anime fighters, and I love it for that. A wealth of unique base roster characters and well balanced game mechanics make this game a steal while its on sale. Not to mention the free version, letting you play with your friends a couple random base roster characters every couple days.
