Very nice, well modernized, traditional roguelike. If you like DCSS, you'll like this.

maybe too late to add, but I really think a classic RPG interface with visual slots for weapons and so on would add so much to the game and let people instantly connect to it. (look at 'Caves of Qud' which just released last year and has an insanely well done UI for this now, even for characters with 4 arms or nearby floatables)
it feels like such an essential part of immersing yourself into the game... the lines of text may work as a nostalgia play, but scare off anyone who doesn't want to deal with a frankly incredibly clunky way of doing inventory and equipment.
I don't want to give it a bad rating, because the game essentially is exactly what it promises to be, but I simply can't enjoy games that force you to do min-maxy try-hard roguelike experience sans any fun, adventure, exploration and so on.
people already tend to min-max the fun out of games and if you force people into challenge modes that's all they're gonna do.
if I could just save and reload, I could challenge myself, play more relaxed and not be annoyed when the only reason I died was because I didn't know that X -> bad idea.
I know that there are people that like that, a lot claim to like it, but very few in fact do.
what people do like is to play in this manner in a game they already mastered or understand really well. I play roguelike modes in games, or games with meta progression, i.e. rogueLITEs (capitalization for emphasis. it seems that term isn't used any more, but that's how people called it back then)
a story mode, or normal RPG mode with just exploration and leveling and so on would have been amazing for this game....
I just wanna play *my* character, not do speedruns or no hit stuff or hardcore runs. this stuff is fun to watch others do, but it's just so boring to me because whenever I get attached to my character, I die. it just kills the game for me.
I can't criticize or downvote a game because it said "roguelike" and delivered that and I didn't enjoy it :D -- but if I played through in a normal save scum mode as most people do, I'd way way way more likely enjoy the roguelike experience.
if you only do a challenge mode game (which is what this essentially is), the best way to do these games is simply with heavy meta progression, but that is quite the headache in a genre like this, I suppose. how would you even scale this? I have no idea... but it would at least "sell me" on the idea that this is still "my character". restarting as the same character from 0 does not do that - for me at least.
you can always limit a game mode to be more challenging, or simply have several seemingly equal ways to play a game. limiting the ways you can play a game needlessly seems unwise, even if you yourself are purely interested in a roguelike experience.
the game's incredibly well executed. I like everything except that I can't shoot through people -- but that's kinda personal taste and I guess makes sense, but is a bit annoying when you play a ranged character with hirelings that constantly spawn in their pets and you barely get to fire an arrow.

if you play on Linux and 4k, go to .local/share/Steam/steamapps/common/Zorbus/Data/Settings.txt
and change the relevant lines to:
tile_size................ 64
tiles_64_horizontal...... 46
tiles_64_vertical........ 29
zoom..................... 175
otherwise the game will not scale well

Cool Traditional Roguelike. I'm not the biggest fan of turn-based combat in general, but the added style and charm makes up for my personal problem. If you like DCSS or Angband, but want sound, cool graphics, and funny dialogue, this is it. The class customization is top notch, def recommend.

I have tried a bunch of traditional roguelikes recently, and this one is just the one I find the most fun and compelling by far. It really does feel like a unique adventure each run, and requires you to use your brain. I find the visuals and dialogue quite charming too. Try it!

I absolutely love this game! I played until I had killed 2 gods and man it wasn't easy. This is a perfect dungeon crawler, unbelievably challenging, and with a great sense of humor. I just wish that once you killed your first god you didn't have to complete the 10 dungeon levels every single time. That's my only complaint though. Worth every penny you'll pay and more.

After playing Civ 7 I was delighted to play a game where obvious attention and care went towards the interface.
Pleasant traditional roguelike with really nice interface+controls and a lot of DnD-esque flavor. Reminds me a bit of DCSS and Incursion.
