With the release of the new update I have to change my review from a positive one to a negative. In the past state this game had great potential and a full story. With the newer update there is no in game map, no list of objectives, no graphics menu, no settings menu, in fact, the only menu there is now is quick play or new game. Quick play is now the level select menu. When starting new game you are given a short video that somewhat explains what is happening. It doesn't show anything visually, but just has someone talking over a garbled radio about you being sent there to explore. The visuals are very good, all the characters look great, but the gameplay mechanics are seriously lacking. The hit boxes are really bad. Headshots most of the time won't even do anything. You have to shoot directly in the chest for it to count. You can't change the audio volume at all and when you kill an enemy it is VERY loud. You get attacked by various interesting enemies which are visually great, but again have barely any game mechanics. Sometimes they will just move right past you and run into a building that you can't enter, or they will go inside the giant rocks that are around the map, since they have no collision with them. Next, when I was in game and clicked to exit out to the main menu from the pause menu. My game got stuck in a black screen and I had to close the game and open it again. I have no idea what to do in the first mission since there is no map, or list of objectives. All the old levels have been taken out, at least as far as I can tell they are gone, but again, I can't get past the first level. It seems like the developers prioritized advanced features and visuals over basic features needed for the player to know what to do. There's advanced features like time cycles for new waves and what appears to be mini bosses, but no hint at how to get new guns, no visible guide of where to go, or anything for what to do. This game now feels more like something someone would make on a weekend when messing around in Unity. In the end, I was really looking forward to this next update, but was extremely let down. I can not recommend this game to any one in its current state. It was far better before the update. I never thought they'd make an update that would make the game so much worse. At best this could be considered an early access game, but the developers have already posted about the updates being slowed down and not being a priority. So, I'm sure it will take again many months to get another update for the game. This game had so much potential in its earlier state. I hope they can salvage the game and bring it back to being playable.
