Worst level design ever , seems like someone randomly dragged a pen on a piece of paper and decided to tuern those doodles into levels for this game. Dowload a free Doom mod if you're into doomlikes but avoid this unless you want headaches

I owned Chasm in the late 90's. I never got very far in it because I couldn't get mouse-look to work back then. Chasm was generally seen as a 'poor mans Quake', but despite their similarities the two games do play a bit differently. Chasm requires some careful navigation and even a tactical approach when engaging enemies, probably to a larger extent than you'd do with Quake. It's also feels a lot darker than Quake and there are a lot more tech-base styled levels. Enemy dismemberment is a fun bonus! I was glad to see this remaster on Steam but I was bit skeptical over the price. I eventually picked it up and wished I had done so sooner. For someone like me, it's worth the price. They've done an excellent job with this title and managed to breathe new life into it. It looks great, sounds great, and plays very well. Even comes bundled with the DOS version ready-to-go if that's what you'd prefer. Not only that, it also comes with the level editor so you can make your own maps! If you're a fan of genuine 'boomer shooters', you owe it to yourself to at least consider adding Chasm: The Rift to your wishlist.

I wish I could recommend this game but I cannot. At its core its a solid shooter and offers some uniqueness for when it was released, alas it is the Dark Souls II of boomer shooters. Comparably speaking it is only a fraction as good of a game as DS2 is but its ability to make you want to commit domestic violence is equal to none (Completed the game on max difficulty). To keep it simple the map design sucks and the enemy placement and spawns are rather something to behold at times. All in all don't buy this as there are plenty of modern, old, and free WADs you can play that are top notch. The one caveat to this all is, unless you absolutely love boomer shooters like me and you MUST play it then do so. But even then...

It's quite a special game compared to other 90s FPS: dismemberment, difficulty, level design, bosses, varieties of how to use surroundings. There are drawbacks like gameplay mechanics of enemies hitting you even when projectiles do not "touch" you. Anyways, curious game.
