Fascinating really. I played around with 4D Toys before, and having a basic understanding of how to think about 4D really helped a lot here. 4D Toys uses a really good tutorial-analogy that lets you play around in a 3D space and shows you how a person in 2D would perceive things there. You can then use this understanding as a jumping off point to think about how you in your 3D view of the world perceive a 4D space. (you can find a good demonstration video on youtube) Cake4D sadly does not have a tutorial of that quality. Here you are given several Mario-esque jumping challenges, each is first solved by a bot playing the game for you (highlighting the buttons pressed for each action) and then you are left on your own to try and repeat that. It does not explain what the different vision modes (R, F, G and T key) are for or how to understand them. In short: R is normal reality with a XYZ coordinates. X is blue & left-right / Y is green & up-down / Z is red & forward-back. The fourth dimension is pink. You can slide along this direction by pressing Q and E, which will noticeably shift the world. Alternatively you can use the vision modes F, G and T which each swap one of the three coordinates with the 4th one. It is a bit of work to wrap your head around this, but once you manage to do just that the experience is quite unique and definitely worth the asking price. I would suggest to play each level not just until you bump into the solution but try to understand how this 4D space is actually structured. How each platform and door you see corresponds to what you see in the other views. I would say that is where the actual value of this game lies. The jumping around is bland to be honest, but it is the right tool, a very simple and intuitive tool to understanding the world. And that is priceless.

I was able to make it to the end. I do hope you continue making new levels! I recommend this insofar as it is a 4D game and there are very few of those. The design is also cute and the yuri elements are appreciated. Once you figure out 4D, it's not so much a puzzle game as a parkour game, and the later levels requiring you to maintain momentum are difficult until you get the hang of it. For the most part, you can just use the view-changing buttons (RFG), and use T to make sure you are aligned with your jump. If you find a jump difficult, try to memorize the distance you need to start sprinting at to make it. The scroll wheel is a little confusing at first, but begins to make sense if you go into volumetric mode with Z/X. Depending on how powerful your computer is, you may need to decrease the video specs when starting up the game. I think it would take a lot of skill to use volumetric mode fully when doing parkour. I haven't quite figured out what CTRL is meant to do yet. The way I would suggest doing camera controls: - Controls that "roll/tumble/twirl" the volumetric camera should be secondary. - Mouse left/right, mouse up+down, scroll up+down should control one of three: look + right direction, look + kata direction, look + vertical direction - It shouldn't be possible to invert the camera controls by turning your view upside down / inside out

Very cool game and I love the 3D screen display mode. The only thing is the controls feel really strange and almost world locked. It would be extremely helpful to implement local looking controls such as twirl (swapping right with the invisible direction) and reel (swapping forwards with the invisible direction) as I've been playing with R angle but when I use the scroll wheel 90 degrees and try to look left/right, it looks ana/kata (the invisible directions). This is very well made though especially as I said, the 3D screen.

The game is really good! gives a clear picture of what 4D is like, however there are some issues, the later levels get hard, because you have to build momentum, which makes the controls feel very loose. But it is still a really nice game!
