Took my money and ran. Never trusting any Warner Bros. Game with my money again. Easily avoidable. Warner Bros clearly only saw a way to make money by making a popular free-to-play platform fighter and when their disgusting monetisation practices backfired they threw their toys out of the proverbial pram.

I was addicted to the game during the beta. I earnestly thought this would dethrone, or be **the** contender of, Super Smash Bros. But they fumbled the bag, every step of the way. Whether it was a lack of adding characters, cosmetics, or content, and being absolutely stingy with their IP; anti-consumer practices; and changing the pacing of the game from something that felt fluid and the right kind of chaotic to something that felt slow and jank. Beta had its issues, of course, primarily net-code and hitbox related, but all the game needed was a lot of polish and refinement, and to get a good stream of genuinely looked-forward to content out, and it would have seen far more success. A promising live-service game that turned into a disappointment due to a lack of being tapped into the consumer's mindset, and in fact being anti-consumer, joining many other such games as a Wikipedia entry.

Sadly very disappointing now heavily anti consumer. Lost stuff I earned in the beta and, required me to repurchase things I already own including a free Wonder Woman skin everyone got for completing the beta tutorial. Battle passes take to long and are completely useless and a constant grind fest that requires all your time and patience just to barely progress. This game is a huge disappointment with the amount of potential it had from licensing, art design and, game play design . This will remain a stain on WB games from the amount of money they lost (I heard $100 million) and the lost respect of the fan base and consumers. Live Service games are a CANCER to this industry.

Don't Mind me, just stopping by this once-fun games soon-to-be grave...
Legit all they had to do from the beta was improve netcode and continue working on hitboxes along with whatever else a balance patch would bring, it was a miracle they even came back from shutting it all down and were given a second chance to begin with.
Rebuilding the Game from scratch Destroyed It, Way slower gameplay combined with even MORE Atrocious Monetization than before was ultimately its death knell...
Its insane that you screw up a game enough for it to die twice but ehhh thats the way it goes i suppose!

Multiversus could have been the perfect F2P fighting game. When it first launched, it was fast, felt great to play, and was full of charm - a great visual style, a fun and funny varied character roster and lots of potential. The developers clearly couldn't keep pace with the live service content machine - the same thing that kills so many live service games, and they decided to pretend the game had been in Beta and removed it from stores for a year to work on things.
The problem is, when it came back it was actually worse in literally every way - the gameplay was slowed down and felt like you were underwater, they made the economy significantly worse and took away your resources and choices from the original launch, they took away a bunch of your rematch options and post-match stats to keep bad players from realizing how poorly they were doing, and despite taking away a game that people had paid $100 for a year to work on things, the content slowed down immediately afterwards again so the team could go back to trying to make fundamental mechanical changes again to reverse the damage they had done.
It's no surprise they're pulling the plug on this game, but it is an absolute shame - they had the perfect template for something special, but WB and PFG made the wrong choices at literally every potential junction. Too slow to update, while shooting itself in the foot with every patch. This was one of my favorite experiences of the generation at its initial launch, but as it dies a quiet, unmarked death, I can only remember it as one of its biggest disappointments instead.

The Warner Bros. greed took over, now its shutting down after season 5. Added cool characters WAY to late
if only they listened to the players and actually cared, this game had potential.
RIP

Can't say I'm surprised the game's shutting down but the abruptness and way it's being handled sucks. I strongly recommend reading the most recent announcement but tl;dr they've disabled purchasing gleamium and people that have the game are required to log in between Feb 4th and May 30th to be able to play the game offline as afterwards they will be disabling online and taking the game off stores. I feel like this is going too far too soon. They should keep the game on stores and available for everyone even if it is just offline at the very least.
My friends and I enjoyed Multiversus back in the closed alpha + open beta and I unfortunately bought a founder's pack thinking the game would last and continue to be enjoyable. They all stopped playing after the changes made to the full release but I came back to play a bit when they started adding more Cartoon Network characters like Jack, PPG, and Marceline. Despite owning every character in the game I have a lot of spare currency from that pack such as character tickets that I'll never be able to use. There has been no word about any kind of compensation. Something as simple as being able to exchange unused currency for gleamium would be nice. There are some cosmetics that I would've liked to purchase and have after the game shuts down.
It's a shame the game failed. I feel like there was potential but changing the gameplay and upping the grind for getting characters did irreversible damage to the game's reputation. Reception in my friend group went from positive to "I'm never touching this game again." There was also a bit of confusion when the game was taken offline after the open beta as it felt like it had already released with 2 seasons of content.
I'd like to see another Warner Bros. crossover game someday. Hopefully it won't turn out as bad as this one did.

This plays like molasses. I can't believe I spent 100 bucks on the Founder's Edition for the game I was supporting in beta to be nothing like the game that's shutting down later. F Warner Bros.

are you kidding??? i spent over 100$ to back this game as a founder when it first l
aunched and it was AMAZING with tons of players and hype....
then you took it down and killed ALL of the momentum and popularity then RE-released it with TONS of micro-transactions and bs grindy features no one wanted. you could have just released the game AS IS and added more characters and maps and had a success. now? we get to lose all the potential this game had and no one who spent money on anything is getting refunded? i have MORE tokens for free characters than u even released....like tf?
and then instead of at least keeping it up so we can play youre shutting EVERYTHING down? WB..stop making games....just license them to someone who isnt a greedy r#t@rd and ACTUALLY cares about the properties involved.....after this i refuse to EVER buy any game made by them or give money to WB again. so sick of them killing games less than a YEAR after its official release....
please someone steal the code or something so we can at least keepo this game going via p2p or fan servers. or maybe someone buy it form them and release it as an ACTUAL finished game instead of locking everything behind TONS of grind and paywall
