This game is if Mullet Mad Jack and Post Void had a child. Then Roboquest and Ultrakill had a child. And then these two children grew up to have fulfilling lives and eventually had their own child named Force Reboot.
Not sure how to explain it properly other than that to be quite honest. To break it down:
-Ultrakill's movement (Ground slam with the ability to bounce higher from it as well as an emphasis on speed and crisp movement). You can also parry enemy bullets which is similar to how you can parry your own shotgun in Ultrakill. *Note that all I ever did in Ultrakill was P rank level 1 and then never touch it again
-The timer + health syphon system of Post Void while some upgrades even take inspiration from it
-Again, the timer + health syphon system of Mullet Mad Jack which is directly inspired by Post Void but I noticed there are also upgrades from this game that take inspiration from Mr. Mad Jack such as the no reload upgrade which is basically every tier 3 upgrade from Mullet Mad Jack, the aura, and some others if I recall
-Roboquest for it's enemy placement and the enemy design sort of remind me of Roboquest in a way. Especially one of the enemies look like they could fit in as one of the playable characters in that game.
This game is pretty rad if I do say so myself. Also there's an upgrade that gives you 4 guns which means quad wielding grenade launchers. It also affects your fists which actually adds 4 fists instead of giving you 4 total so you get to beat up robots with 6 fists at once.
Just becareful when choosing upgrades since Newton's 3rd law applies meaning every buff has an equal and opposite buff. Sometimes you get lucky and you get a free upgrade that comes with no debuff. Sometimes it won't tell you the buff or debuff so you have to hope you get something good. If you're insane (me) then you pick the "upgrade" that tells you upfront "NO BUFF" and it comes with a free debuff.
As of the time of this review, the game is still in early access with some content still being worked on. Currently there are 2/3 zones so the game will get longer and most definitely more difficult. Considering zone 1 was easy for me and then Zone 2 slapped me in the face I can't wait to see how bad Zone 3 breaks my mental. There aren't even a confirmed amount of guns yet. So far there are 5 and there's going to be an unknown amount to be added later on. Imagine the possibilities with weapon combos.
There's also endless and arena modes so you theoretically can play forever. For $3 that's totally worth it

I've played this game for almost 2hrs; it felt like 20 mins.
The combat is fast and intense.
Best $3.00 I've ever spent

Really fun fast gameplay but not a ton of content, not surprising tho because it costs less than a small slushie at 7/11, definitely worth it

It's not only super charming with its visual style and hot robo girl protag, Force Reboot is just plain fun, every experience feels like a "speed fast and kick ass" experience in a way I enjoy a lot
