Ed-0: Zombie Uprising Reviews
"Oedo x Zombie x Rogue-like" A rogue-like action where traditional Japanese characters (Samurai, Sumo Wrestler, and Ninja) destroy hordes of zombies. Since everything is randomly generated, no run will be the same. Decision making will be essential but there are some RPG elements as well.

I don't want to put down other reviewers, yet many tend to view the jank and half-baked nature to be charming.
I do not
This game is a gigantic time-waster and annoy-o-tron. The game feels like they just made it, tried it a few times and hit publish, ignoring glaring mechanical and downright basic gameplay problems.
You can see that the mechanics at the core are pretty decent, but it's all wrecked by just... badly tuned everything. There isn't a lot of love or QoL stuff. Yeah I can see the good under it all, but it's all covered up by the poo as well.
Most of the game is honestly just your time being wasted. You plow through boring areas, some are corridors and some are open areas. There are a few enemies here and there which you either button-mash to death or invoke your special attacks. That's it. You just beat them up, roll away when it's their turn, wait for your cooldowns.
You get all manner of throwables which are strangely required if you want to progress with any kind of speed, yet the means to throw them requires you to first Lock-On (which is random and half-broken) then Zoom In, then Select the throwable with the D Pad < and >, then D Pad ^. For ONE THROWABLE.
Then the selected item in the hotbar automatically switches to your next inventory item whether you might want to throw it or not. You might be saving it for later or to sell to the shop. The game doesn't let you customize the hot bar and what appears in it. It's a nightmare scrolling this way and that, and in the heat of battle accidentally throwing a scroll or amulet you intended to keep. The design is completely absent in this area.
Just nothing, nothing is thought out and no care put into anything.
I don't really want to carry on with this review because the game doesn't deserve it. It's got the mystery dungeon flavor but it's actually just mostly bad.
Hmm... which door at the end of this mini-dungeon shall I warp through? The Food Room where I get a rice ball giving me 14% fullness, the Item Room where I get a single item which is gonna be 1 throwable knife, or the Scroll Room which grants me a permanent new cooldown attack or an upgrade to an existing? GEE WHAT POWERFUL DECISIONS THIS GAME DEMANDS OF THE PLAYER /s

Strange native control scheme, confusing game mechanics, vague tutorial. Not much meat on the bone here.

The Steam reviews let me down here. For all the positive reviews, looking at achievement percentages only around 7% of players have gotten even half way through the game, and for good reason. Combat is a slog, enemies often feel like damage sponges, and the general feel of the game is unpolished, grindy, and repetitive. All three playable characters are melee types, but you can throw the items you find. I say this as the boss for the fourth level is an enemy flying on a jetpack that does lock on kamehamehas on you with limited opportunities to attack. A challenge, and pretty annoying, but fine for a boss. In the fifth level this boss becomes a standard enemy. That's where I couldn't really bother with it anymore.
But you can get drunk, which causes you to projectile vomit and randomly ragdoll. You can also throw alcohol at enemies to have them do that instead. So there's that.
