Well... They demolished a strong component of this game, the AI. Human npcs are so dumb, they cannot flank you, they "teleport" left and right like cephs and they can spot you wherever you are, the only positive thing could be the graphic, if you never played the original, but there's no art direction, it's just saturated almost like the original blackfire mod, and it's heavy, the original one ran on two cores, one for everthing, and the second for the audio, this one is just poorly optimized, "can it run crysis?"... Maxed out settings won't run on almost any build. And no updates since 2022... I forgot, there's no way to save, how the heck is possible... The suit mode form the last 2 games is horrible on this, just no, they ruined the classic mode, nanosuit 1.0 worked always on armor mode as default, so if you use armor mode you'll hear the 2.0/3.0 suits heavy step. The only way to fully enjoy this remaster is to play this for the first time. I expected warhead campaign as a dlc but no, let's fund the next chapter by porting the same game on another iteration of the cryengine.

I love this game and the whole franchise! The first Crysis game particularly offers quite interesting gameplay in addition to a nice story. As far as I know, initially it had to be the test of a new version of CryEngine: the developers tried to show how realistic a game can be. Anyway, for me there are lots of other interesting aspects in this shooter besides just the pretty jungles.
GAMEPLAY
For me it’s a unique game due to this part. Firstly, it’s the nanosuit: it provides you with several features. You can use the strength mode so that any human will die from your hit. Additionally, if you run quickly and your suit has energy, you’ll run even faster. But armor and cloak are the best. The former turns your suit energy into your additional health points, and the latter makes you invisible unless you get too close to an enemy. However, the AI’s weird here: when you’re invisible, they are completely blind, but if you become visible again, they’ll start shooting you right away! And even if you turn on the cloak again, they’ll be seeing you for a few seconds. I also want to mention that Crysis Remastered can be well played with DualShock 4 controllers. I just found a mod for DualShock 4 icons and turned on the simulation of an Xbox gamepad on Steam. The only really big problem was to control the VTOL because you always have to keep your height, and for it you must use the D-Pad. But when my left thumb was busy with the left stick, I had to put my hands in an uncomfortable position. Therefore I recommend playing it only with gamepads like Xbox’ ones since the D-Pad is in a more accessible position there. There are also other drawbacks of the gameplay, such as the damage absorbed through walls and boring boss fights, but one aspect makes it insignificant…
LOCATIONS
Despite quite strange AI this game is amazing exactly because of its levels. At first, lots of objects are destroyable; if you accidentally throw a chair away, it can hit a nearby hut and it’ll get destroyed. Just don’t be inside at that time. This fact is enough to create unique situations where only your ingenuity can save you. You can hide in the corner behind a door and kill everyone who shows up. Or you can tryna go under the cloak and get stuck in the middle of a village without any bush with 20% of your suit energy. Everything is upon you. The second part is the locations’ vibe. In the first half of the game you’ll be dealing with North Koreans on the Lingshan Islands. You’ll see jungles and local villages, conquered by North Koreans. However, I haven’t met a local dweller for the whole game, which is bizarre. Human enemies are very silly, like I said. Therefore later you’ll get into the aliens’ den in a mountain. There’s no gravity, and subsequently it’ll disorientate you. There also will be the hosts of the place, who are a bit smarter than humans, yet stupid too. Later you’ll get out and be going through to leave the aliens’ glacial sphere. Jungles under the snow look quite interesting, but it’s only for a short period of time, unfortunately. Then you’ll get back to a military ship where you’ll face the last boss.
WEAPONS
What makes the gameplay more interesting is its guns. Here you’ll have the opportunity to kill your enemy with several firearms originating on the Earth, a few guns from space, and throwable objects. It’s not too much, nevertheless, you also can customize your guns, thereby making them silent or making it easier for yourself to shoot without aiming if you play without a marker in the center of your screen. There isn’t much to say about weapons since the arsenal is quite small here. There are also 2 types of throwable weapons: either you throw a barrel or a closet directly to your enemy, or you drop a grenade beside your target.
MISSIONS
Unfortunately, it’s not one of the best parts of this game; it only sometimes is. In most cases your purpose is to visit this village, occupied by North Koreans, and to turn off a device of theirs. Then you destroy a tank in this place, destroy an Anti-Aircraft Artillery in that place, save this archaeologist, and repeat. But there are 2 interesting exceptions. The first is when you’re provided with a tank and you can go through the whole level, killing everyone, except your allies, around yourself. You can leave the tank in the case it has absorbed too much damage, but then it’ll be the same boring stealth. And the second case is the chapter where you’re reluctant to control a VTOL. It’s also a standing out mission of the game. But, like I said, you rarely will experience such uniquenesses of the game.
PLOT
This is why I love the whole Crysis series! However, the first game is just an introduction to everything that will be in the following games. You begin as a military soldier of the USA, Nomad. You’re flying with your squad to the Lingshan Islands to find out what soldiers of the DPRK did with a group of archaeologists. In the first half of the game you’ll be dealing with North Koreans. In the second part all the North Koreans will disappear from your sight and aliens will be of your concern. I guess it’s because they fled as far as it was possible while the protagonist was in the aliens’ base. After the base Nomad flees with his allies too. And since he meets no one from North Korea, they probably left before. Anyway, I think that the plot is here just to justify the player’s presence in this jungle. It’s good that it creates the foundation for the whole lore. Nonetheless, it’s just a nice story. That’s all!
SOUND
Although an awesome sound is standart, it’s still a significant part in this game. As for the sound effects, they are mostly fine. Everything sounds natural except guns. I don’t know what the problem is to make sounds that are at least similar to what firearms sound like in the real world. Without the silencer, a gun sounds bearable, but it’s definitely not the way they sound in reality. I also want to add that with the cloak on everything around you sounds muffled, which adds atmosphere too! And another aspect of the sound is the music. Compared to Crysis 2 it’s not so energetic and dramatic, but overall, it’s great! There are several tracks that play depending on the state of your fight. I cannot explain exactly what the difference is between one song that plays while your enemies are looking for you and the other that sounds when you’re silently going through the location. But it all sounds suitable, as for me. The only flaw of the music set in Crysis 1 is that it’s not memorable.
GRAPHICS
What can I say about the picture you see in the remastered version of a game the graphics of which made everyone go crazy at its release time? I guess it’s quite obvious that all the effects were improved here, and since I’ve played the original game, I can say that it looks better. I don’t know how, but for some reason it does. It just looks pretty, that’s all I can say. I remember being amazed by the water here when I was playing it for the first time; it merely was my first game with such graphics level. Anyway, it’s just a beautiful game.
ORIGINAL OR REMASTERED?
I’ve played the original game, so I have what to say. Since this’ a positive review, I guess the conclusion is explicit. During my 12 hours in the original game I got Crysis crashed 5-7 times. But the remastered version has never crashed at all, as far as I remember, even though I’ve played 47 hours in it! Moreover, it wasn’t easy even to launch the original game. Additionally, there are some differences in the gameplay, and the latter game is easier because both the health and energy bars are replenished faster, and some other stuff. I think that the differences aren’t really significant, therefore for me the choice depends on the optimization which is better in the remastered version. As for the whole game in any version, I suggest that you play it. It’s worth your time!

It's the console adaptation of the Crysis, not the original version remastered. Still fun.

(Mild Spoiler Ahead) – The game is a blast, but the sense of separation is really serious, and the process is very short. I jumped straight in on Delta difficulty, and it turned out to be surprisingly not that difficult. You are a US special forces soldier equipped with high-tech Nanosuit. Although a head-on confrontation is basically a dead end, but if you stick to stealth, cloak up, and assassinate your way through the chaos, it will become simple, and it will be tense and exciting. If you want to truly experience the feeling of "one person is an army", it is recommended to have the lowest difficulty and fully unleash the power of Nanosuit: cloak up, armor hard, speeding up, it's as cool as cheating. Why is the sense of separation serious? Because: The first half: US special forces vs. North Korean troops. The second half: Sci-fi alien disaster movie. ——Fighting guerrilla warfare, bombing bases, assassinating enemy troops, but later it turned into alien spaceships ascending, blizzards hitting, and all enemy soldiers turned into alien mechanical tentacle monsters. Just like you are watching "Saving Private Ryan", and halfway through it suddenly turns into "Alien vs. Predator". Some people might find that twist exciting—adds urgency and unpredictability. Me? I think the genre just flipped, the pacing snapped, and the mission lost focus. In conclusion: Solid gameplay, intense and satisfying mechanics. But the story takes a wild turn too suddenly, the campaign’s over way too fast, and the ending feels rushed. Still, rampaging through a jungle with bleeding-edge nanotech strapped to your body? That’s an experience worth having.

Remaster my ass... This is a poor console port that manages to look worse than the original. -Broken HDR -Clunky movement -Janky interactivity with items and weapons -AI with eyes in the back of their heads from miles away. -NO MANUAL SAVES in a game that asks you to spend hours sneaking around being tactical. -Damage sponge enemies Was bored in an hour. I waited for this Epic Game Store exclusive to eventually come to Steam and it was not worth the wait.

Pure nostalgia! As an old Crysis veteran, it's still fun to slip into the Nanosuit and dash through the jungle at high speed to take out Koreans and aliens in complete freedom. This time even as a remastered version with improved graphics and even more beautiful landscapes. Unfortunately, Crysis Warhead is not included and nothing has been changed in terms of gameplay, which is why you still have to deal with the old problems. However, this also contributes to the nostalgia if you want to see something positive in it. In terms of performance, it ran 90% well for me and I had a few bugs. A classic that I can recommend.

I swear to god remastered these days are just cash grabs that add no value what so ever and riddle the game with bugs. Crysis 2007 was a bug free experience whilst this is a dumpster fire form heavy scripting that messes up whole missions especially the last one to dumb and invincible AI and don't even get me started on hit boxes, object physics and collision . Overall that game didn't even improve it graphically and I find it repulsive to look at compared to the original. Massive thumbs down.
