The price is too high at it's current state and for this being an early access game as well. You have to punch really really hard at the round numbers to get up from a knock out so once I got KOd it was automatically over. Same with the punching bag you can't break those orange targets unless your a professional boxer. I asked for refund https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-LQvVDP5H1c

The online PVP VR boxing market has not been tapped and this game is capitalizing on it! PROS No punch spamming (You have to be precise landing punches orienting your knuckles correctly to do actual damage.) No Skiing (Bye bye skiing locomotion that plagued Creed allowing players to zip around the ring.) Observers (Although not released just yet, but this added feature will soon make it land on many tournament leagues.) CONS EARLY ACCESS (This game will have its flaws, but the developers are fully active in listening to the community and pushing out updates.) Join the official discord to find players to fight against. You will no doubt enjoy this game if you've been looking for a more realistic competitive 1v1 fighting game.

Yeah this is great. Fought a few fights and having a real person on the other end is so amazing. It has huge potential and will be a hit for sure. I already feel I got my moneys worth after 5 fights against other people. Be sure to join the discord and challenge someone to setup a fight. Good group, it's like being part of a boxing gym.

With multiplayer definitely better than TOF for exercise right now. You definitely need a friend to fight though. Or go on the discord for a competitor. Once they add support for oculus the pool of people will increase dramatically. Make sure to read all the notes on the game description. The hit registration is very good in multiplayer. Once they add more feedback and audio for hits it will be pretty much perfect.

Best VR multiplayer boxing game on the market. PvP is smooth, you can't spam punch or abuse some locomotion system, definitely puts creed and VFC to shame in terms of realism. PLEASE keep in mind, game is early access. Mostly focused on only multiplayer, many features are in the works but not fully implemented. If you want to fight people online and have a real boxing match, buy this!!

Just grabbed the early access and played a few games with someone from the discord channel. Solid PvP boxing. Blocking feels accurate, can punch around guards, real locomotion only. It's exactly what I would expect from PvP VR boxing and can't wait for them to keep improving the game!

Era Of Combat is by far the most fun I've had with a VR PvP fighting game. If you are having a hard time deciding if EOC is for you I hope this review can help clear up some confusion on the mixed reviews. This is currently the only realistic online VR boxing game available (No built in stamina, locomotion, shield health for blocking, etc.) So if you have a play space smaller than 2 x 1.5 you might run into issue's. For the people who expect a fully polished early access PvP boxing game with no glitches or bugs that also has a great single player that's not the case as of right now. This game was developed by just 1 guy with a passion for boxing with multiplayer being the main focus right now so before purchasing this game make sure you are ok with joining the community along the ride for the up's and down's this game will have. With that being said the only current way to get an online match is by joining the official discord server and asking for one or being asked by someone else. If you do not have a discord and have no interest in creating one this game currently isn't for you. Finding a match to join without being in the server is basically impossible as of now unless you play very early in the morning where you can find a few player's on at random so other than that finding someone online that will be hosting a match is very difficult as no one wants to sit in an empty ring for 30 mins+ hoping and waiting for a join but, if you do somehow find a host chances are they already have a fight set up with someone and you joining might be getting in the way of that as almost no one use's password's because the chance of someone else filling your spot is very slim but I have watched it happen and experienced it for myself. If you are a discord user however, this is where the fun begin's for this game. apon joining you will find a very welcoming community of fighter's. Tournament's are also held for the "EOC Undisputed Championship" rank on the server which means you are the current champion of the game. You also have the option to share your idea's or report any bugs you encounter while also being involved with the game in so many way's. I believe the more time you spend playing the more EOC and it's community will grow on you.

This game is not polished at all right now for the amount of money it charges you. and yes devs have warned us about this being rough, but that's not the sole reason for my review. The combat feel is definitely akin to TOTF but the actual experience is very subpar. My most frustration in EoC came from the body shoots, they are extremely underwhelming and frustrating even when it connects- there is no visible damage being perceived. And there is no locomotion in the game means people with smaller playing spaces can never be able to enjoy this game. so if you don't have a giant VR space, just let this one go. People can also walk into each other (which can be intentionally abused the wrong way), and it is easy to walk into each other when both fighters are stepping forward to jab or cross. Similar games such as Creed and VFC did well in this regard by having collision mechanics to stop players from clipping into each other. Anyways, this game is an attempt to mimic TOTF's combat feel in a PvP setting, but the execution isn't there yet, and I don't see how this can be considered a step upwards from Creed or VFC.

Game needs alot of work, but to charge 20 for a game this unfinished, when you can get the best boxing game out for 10 bucks in thrill of the fight, id pass on this. I bought it for the multiplayer, played a match, and it didn't even feel like i was able to connect a punch on my opponent. Its like he has a force field around his body. On top of that if you do connect, you wouldn't know because unlike TOTF, there's no controller vibration or sound to tell when you connect. Like I said, to charge 20 bucks, to not even get the basic functions, a game made originally by one man was able to incorporate into his game for 10 bucks, not worth it. Got my refund, gave it two weeks, but the dev doesn't seem to be updating and fixing the problems i mentioned anytime soon, and i don't like to waste money. Do whatever you feel like but I wouldnt recommend this one, ill just wait for TOFT2...

6/11/22 Tried another multiplayer match. I noticed not much has been changed. End of fight review shows my punch count very low; maybe a third of what i actually thrown in each round. Again, it feels like for some reason on my VIVE INDEX it is not registering my punches. The opponent punch count is always higher, i see them throwing the punches most of the time, and i know for sure they arent throwing more than me, we are at best roughly averaging the same ballpark, but mine is always showing a third of theirs. I am usually always throwing 2 to 3 punch combos. I fight vary depending on intensity of the round, but if am averaging 200 each round in TOTF (can be more im not sure, havent kept track of those numbers in a while on that game, only time i play that now is to beat money on unfair mode so i look only at the round score), why would this be any different? I dont fight differently between each game, it just feels alot more awkward in this game because most hits i throw i have no idea if i connect or not. Most hits still not registering after a jab. Same problem with head movements and defense. For now, the game is roughly the same since all the recent updates. Single player AI shows some improvement. Can you please let me know if there is some setting i need to change on my VIVE for this game? i am writing this solely for the developers to see, i know this game is in beta so i know its normal to have bugs, and i would like to address some major ones i've noticed: my background is many heavy years of boxing; not the type u go to the gym for a good workout, but the type that actually ate, breathed, lived, bled, ate boxing in hopes of making it in the game (unfortunately, that did not happen due to many reasons, but i definitely know a thing or two about boxing). i may have too high of an expectation from these vr boxing games, as i did with TOF. The game wanted to be the most realistic boxing vr game available; and in that aspect, i do actually see it as an upgrade from TOF. the physics of motions, punches, blocking is way more in tuned and connected; however, that is limited to one to two actions at a time. i did 10 rounds of 3min with the current AI and i have found the following: 1. Combinations dont register (about the most annoying thing i found in TOF). A 1-2 combination does not register the 2. 1-2-3 does not register after the 1. I do not throw flurry of rabbit punches, but sequences of combinations as i would in a fight. I also tried throwing a single 2 at the AI's head, it registers a sound but no impact, the glove sometimes dont even appear. On the punching bag, the same punches register and it detects the impacts as strong ,superior, and so on, i noticed by the color coding: oranges and purples all register, and i was throwing the same punches, i do not know another way to throw these punches as these are what my muscle memories tell me to do with the only variable being the strength used. 2. Slips, and ducking-under dont register with AI. So far, ive only noticed a hand block to block almost all punches. 3. AI stops moving after 1min 30 to 2min with a long pause. 4. Body shots dont seem to register very well, but again these shots register on punching bag. I did not get a chance to try with a real opponent as there was nobody in multiplayer and nobody joined; hopefully, i can find out more about it when i have the opportunity to participate in pvp. 3/24 UPDATE::: Just completed the first multiplayer match, i got knocked out. Again, its like versus AI, seemed like non of my attacks really registered with maybe a jab here and there would register. The other guy was tagging me left and right out of nowhere, i just saw my view going into the blurry vision. If i defended against the attack, it didnt seem like it registered either; such as head movement, blocks, and general positioning. Im using valve INDEX, im not sure if its a problem with this vr set in this game or what. Another match with the same guy, if i slow down the punches a bit, it seem to land some more, but the right/rear(if your southpaw) hand almost never lands. At the beginning of the round i tested with the guy to see if i can land a single right hit if it was just a single hit and it did register. Once the combo comes in, say a jab then a right; then it only registers the jab and thats only sometimes. Again the opponent seemed to land at will, i was taking many hits that i didnt see as a hit, and many times i barely see his right even come close to me, i can see my view register a hit on my left eye/temple. I throw a combo, im lucky if the first jab even registers. Defenses almost all dont register, i can be far away from his offense, and i would still take damage; i cant say for the others, but thats what im experiencing with my setup. I tried blocking and ducking since the guy was throwing wild overhand rights, no matter what i did; i couldnt roll under it, nor could i block it without it registering a hit. Cant say forsure if i was able to step away from it, but overall the pvp experience hasnt been great, so im assuming it is nowhere near the realism that you wanted it. It seemed as if my opponent was not having issues with his punches registering. If i got into close range and tried hooks and body shots, these combinations never ever register as far as i can tell. At the end of the match i was knocked down 2 consecutives times but didnt get counted out; and somehow the game gave me the win. At the end of the stats review, the opponent had significantly higher everything. While your freedom of control/movements is alot higher/realistic versus TOTF, it then become even more frustrating when none of it can register and be effective. But yes i know its still in early access; but i really wish you address these issues first before things such as arm reach settings; those things dont make the fights.
