I have been following the development of this game for quite a bit. Even with the new official release as of today, this project keeps on giving.
The game is genuinely addictive, and offers a nice balance between action and thinking, especially if you're going for the more difficult rooms. The artistic direction and the music are as fresh as they can possibly be. The commands are intuitive and there is visible and significant progress in difficulty as you unlock bit by bit new hazards. At the end of my ±7th run to the core, there was a pleasant surprise that enhances the puzzle gameplay experience, too.

Overhaul is packed full with little mechanics which alter the player's relationship to this format of latin square puzzle. You don't get the same experience solving a sudoku or kakuro on your phone because you're not threatened with failure if your HP drops to zero.
It makes for a really interesting puzzle solving experience where you know you could solve the puzzle quite easily but you're constantly pushed and pulled by the other mechanics at play. It's definitely worth a look!

Found this game because of Cracking the Cryptic on youtube.
Never would have thought a sudoku roguelite could be a thing!

A very original little roguelike. I didn't think solving sudoku-like puzzles while getting whacked by aggressive plants would be so fun - but it is. The game isn't very long but it is well worth its price.
You definitely feel the love the devs put into making it, and they are extremely reactive when it comes to fixing the few bugs that are still in the game.

I like roguelites and puzzles but the puzzles in this game are always just simple logic puzzles with annoyances. Maybe it changes after looping 16 times or whatever (I'm at loop... 15?) but the game has worn out itself out to the point where I don't want to find out.

An action game mixed with a soduku-style puzzle game.
The music, the graphics, and the gameplay are top notch.
The game is very addictive and the universe is very successful.
I recommend it 100%.

Whoa, kinda surprised no one's talking about this one. Only played for a couple of hours but I couldn't put it down.
Picture mini sudoku challenges each room, some times surprisingly difficult, some times very easy. Lots of progression and the game gets SUPER hectic some times. There are often things there to distract your train of thought while doing what is a relatively simple puzzle, which I can see some people not enjoying because it feels more like a nuisance than a challenge. Nevertheless, it gives life to the game because the puzzles are usually quite simple once you're able to concentrate.
Good voice acting, great music, addicting gameplay. Do recommend especially for the price tag.

If you enjoy logic puzzles and you also enjoy action games, this is a very strong recommendation from me. If you like one of those types and you're on the fence about the other, I still recommend giving it a try.
I played the demo during Fall Nextfest 2022, and I was immediately hooked. This game was my first introduction to Futoshiki puzzles. I've been on a big non-standard Sudoku kick recently (hello there CTC viewers), and these Futoshiki puzzles use a line of logic very similar to Sudoku, but the grids are smaller (they range from 3x3 to 5x5) and they make use of "this cell is greater than that cell" comparisons. If you already know Sudoku, this will be even easier to pick up.
The dungeon exploration offers multiple difficulty options (both for the challenge of the puzzle and the hazards); each completed room provides multiple exits marked to indicate the difficulty of the adjoining room. Lower-intensity stages are ideal if you want a more relaxed experience, if you want to get used to the puzzles, if you want to increase the action gradually, or if you need a moment to recover after a high-intensity stage.
Each time you reach the final challenge (win or lose), you'll unlock an additional mechanic for future runs (often a new type of hazard), independent of the upgrades and powers you can unlock between runs (things like active powers that heal you, neutralize threats, or help you fill in the puzzles). Each starting power can be upgraded mid-run into one of several unique variants.
The higher-intensity rooms can test your patience, as you have to manage evading projectiles, waiting for hazardous floor to clear up, and keeping pests from undoing your progress on the puzzles; there were a few particularly frustrating room layouts that required lots of hiding and waiting, but the devs have gone back in and balanced the worst offenders.
I had a great time with this one. I've already rolled credits but I know I'll be playing this more in the future.

"Overhaul" is an unholy hybrid between a Logic Puzzle and Brutal Arcade. Personally, I don't think these two genres should be married together. While you're attempting to deduce a timed puzzle, you suddenly get whacked to death! Whereupon you magically reincarnate and play the exact same rooms all over again. Roguelikes are supposed to employ map-generation, and not contain static custom-made rooms. After a couple replays, the easy rooms are removed and you're forced to play in even more punishing rooms. So, you no longer have a choice to decide what rooms to choose. I also encountered a bug where my character was permanently stuck at the start of my second run.
Bottom Line: It's great to see Futoshiki finally available on Steam. Unfortunately, you will die plenty trying to finish the puzzle.

A somewhat unique take on the roguelite genre, Overhaul manages to seamlessly blend logic puzzles and fast-paced action in a top-down puzzle game that will put your ability to think under pressure to the test.
In order to bring back power to your home village, you venture deep into an abandoned power plant that has been taken over by a rather uncooperative flower mob. Your objective for each run is to reach the core, allowing you to slowly but surely restore its energy, but also making your next runs more challenging as new hazards are unlocked. To match that increase in difficulty, you get access to new permanent upgrades that can be unlocked using resources found during your runs.
As you make your way through the power plant's hundreds of hand-crafted room layouts, your main obstacle is going to be what my uncultured brain can only describe as speedy sudoku, with grids ranging in size from 3x3 to 5x5. While rather simple to fill in on magazine pages, it's a different matter when lasers are involved. The game features a variety of unique enemies and challenges, ranging from the agressive plant life to timed rooms that keep you on edge at all times.
In conclusion, Overhaul gets an easy recommendation, especially if you're into roguelites or puzzle games. The game has a kickass hand drawn art style that, when mixed with its sweet soundtrack, manages to make Overhaul stand out in the tidal wave of indies that releases on Steam every day.
