A basic yet atmospheric and entertaining point and click game. I found it worth the price, and I didn't see the ending coming!

I generally tend to like little games like this, but in all honesty, I can't recommend this one. Voice acting is abysmal, with varying degrees of sound quality (did the developer just ask family and friends to record stuff on their own? Some were clearly recorded using a phone) and a terrible soundtrack which of course can't be turned off, you'd have to endure that piano composition for eternity. I cringed at the "scavenger hunt" part, which I can't really call a puzzle at all, you literally just have to find stuff in various places; the real cringe however came later, when I found a mask in the ballroom which started a sequence of... memory? Really?
I just couldn't continue. It's too cringe even for me.

The story is very strange and doesn't make much sense, but overall, it was fun to play.

OMG This game was completely awesome and super cozy!! There were many locations, characters to talk with, items to find, puzzles to solve and a pretty good mystery along with cut-scenes. It wasn't perfect as some of the navigation was a bit clunky and confusing and one of the puzzles (Japanese) still didn't make much sense. A couple of times, I got lost and didn't know what to do next. And while the interface and graphics seems a bit amateurish, the game itself and story, were solid and excellent. I wish there were a hint system to point us in the right direction and a few of the objects were difficult to find with the older graphics. A hot-spot indicator would've helped greatly with this. But that's nit-picking as this game has lots of atmosphere and real voice overs, which are very good. At times the characters go on with lots of reading, but it's better than not enough. I really truly enjoyed this game immensely. It's been a while, but I really hope they make more like it!

Although it mentions I only played it for 20 minutes, I bought this game when it
came out but lost the files and was happy to see it on Steam, so here is a brief review
of the game:
Fun little game, great pastime and a lot of puzzles ranging from easy to hard but most of you will not need a walkthrough to play this game.
I found the voice acting to be very good.
And I really loved being inside the Cliffhouse Bed and Breakfast hotel, absolutely beautiful, makes you want to be there.
And for the price, for me it was well worth the money and I enjoyed playing it and will re-play it in the future.

Fun game old school point and click. Graphics are good, needs to have a music turn off. Very interesting storyline.

This game was dark and creepy, but engaging. The puzzles are straightforward and fun. The storyline is very engaging.

This game really takes you back to the old golden days of point n' click adventures, with prerendered static scenes which you navigate by clicking on a hot spot, as well as low-res pixelated art. It does feel outdated for 2012, the voiceovers are very inconsistent and sound like each actor had a separate microphone, but I doubt anyone playing Cliffhouse is looking for impressive visuals, sound mixing or state of the art gameplay mechanics.
Story-wise the game is okay - it starts building a mystery, suspense, and a general feeling of "something's not right in this place" which you just gotta love. Cliffhouse keeps the ball rolling like that almost till the very end, it never becomes very difficult with its puzzles or boring and keeps you interested. The end itself, however, leaves much to be desired. It's like it got chopped off abruptly, and while I feel like I understand what happened in the end, some narrative support would have been nice. But all in all it's a pretty neat project by a solo dev.
