I wanted to enjoy Lovecraft's Untold Stories 2, but I had to give up because I just couldn't progress in the story any further. The game is really held back by the lack of difficulty settings, because by default the boss enemies are massive bullet sponges who inevitably kill me before I can pump out enough damage.
I found the setting and central mystery really intriguing. The artistic aesthetic and music are good. I liked the enemy designs too. The exploration was fun, and I liked the level design and world map.
The crafting mechanics aren't very well implemented. I had nothing that I wanted to craft available that would have made the game easier, but lots of materials available. The currency doesn't help either, because I couldn't afford anything from the vendors. The game would have also really benefitted from some RPG mechanics that would improve my character's stats. So all together, these design issues make the game feel unnecessarily difficult, and without any pathways for the player to improve.
