Good but expensive tbh, buy it on sale if you really want it.

Coming from SGnG, it is a downgrade. The ONLY reason I played this is because of the legacy. Some company licensed the tm and threw out this garbage. It's the DS2 of sidescrollers.
I don't have a real review because this game isn't worth investing time in. It's just gotcha kills without a meaningful gameplay system that the previous one has.
Watch streamers play this and save your money.

A bit slower and clunkier than the previous games, but pretty fun overall. Still way easier than Ultimate Ghosts n' Goblins (and lacking a lot of different armors too) and I wish after UGnG, they'd add more content.
Overall, if you're a fan like me, it's worth.

Wow this game is difficult. I finished it on Squire mode (the easiest mode available), I cannot imagine trying the next level difficulties. I think I am done. Back in the day, I defeated the NES version. This game is nice to look at and its level design was well thought out.

wtf unplayable dogwater broken stiff trash like wtf worse than dark soles even stick to celest and terroria or caphead wtf
even after you die the game challenges you to not accidentally press "Retry Area" in its menu, which it defaults to instead of "Retry from Banner of Rebirth" like a regular game would. and if you accidentally hit "Retry Area", you do got back to the beginning, yes, but you also LOSE the last Banner of Rebirth(s). so every single time you die after reaching a checkpoint, you have to first remember to first press UP *then* the A button or you restart the entire cursed level and your progress in it's wiped ... you're out of luck.
so if your controller accidentally pressed the A button after being somehow launched out the window and into the neighbor's trash bin ... you're out of luck. or if, during any of your approx. 986,005 deaths in the game that same A button is accidentally depressed while being whirled around the room and into the ground with the rest of the controller like Roger Daltrey from The Who ... you're out of luck.
even the game's death menu dares you not to permanently buck off your entire level's progress while your hands are doing some sort of sudden spasmic rage after dying - now THAT is a true challenge.
this is not Elden Ring. this is not fair or balanced or even. this is not designed to be and I doubt it ever was. the first two games were Arcade games, first. they were designed to eat through every coin you had at the local arcade, including the last two you got after selling your wallet to that weird kid in the corner who didn't ever seem to be there to play video games.
don't buy this - it's my third copy. this game is terrible - I bought it on purpose THREE TIMES. including today - worst day of my life. including today - best day of my life?
gaming's not a throw-down - it's not a challenge. not unless you want it to be. play what you wanna play, and play it how you want to play it. this game isn't for people who don't want the risk of feeling that frustrated anguish after missing a jump you were sure you had. it doesn't handle well. it looks visibly cheap. the level design is creative but awkward. the PC display options are hilariously crappy. so CLEARLY our brave knight handles way worse than he used to - obviously he's aged out of his prime ... and though I don't recommend this game to many people, to the specific people who need it, here it is: you've found it.
a game so hard and cheap and cheap LOOKING that it makes "Cuphead" look even MORE gorgeous. and that game was made by a few passionate indie developers, somewhere. and this is from Capcom, maybe the most consistently successful AAA video game developer there is.
I love this game. I hate this game. Don't buy it. It's great.
