-Uses way to many resources-
Found this strange so tried to launch this offline and does not run.
No internet connection should be required. Again strange.
Fix offline and Optimization.
Not a terrible game, but for the same price you can just get State of Decay 2

I hope the developers are checkin the reviews, if you do Con Artist Games, this game has an exceptional potential of becoming the next level of where you have left THE LAST STAND DEAD ZONE.
Instead of being an infected volunteer trying to get to the end of the map it can be a normal survivor building his base, gathering materials pretty much like Dead Zone was, You have all the elements pretty much to do it, i wonder why you decided to follow the current approach of the game that has no replayability at all. Once you manage to reach the final stage in the lab and kill the scientist that's it. A solid 100-120 hours of gameplay.
I know maybe PvP (the way it was on Dead Zone) is going to be hard to implement in the aftermath but everything else can be done. Raids in hard areas, hordes attacking your base, base improvemtns and installations, a team build up (maybe a turn base mechanic like XCOM).
It saddens me to see this game dying when i know it can become a great title and a worthy successor of the previous ones.

What an absolute breath of fresh air this game is. Very old school, both in mechanics and pricing. There are no microtransacations, skins, DLCs, whatever. The price you pay is just for the game and it respects you enough to not continue to try to drain you.
A single player game with a very clear and addicting game play loop, you'll know within the first 60 minutes if this is the game for you or not. And there's a free demo available, so why not give it a try?
It took me ~40 hours to beat the game once, and then an additional 10 hours to get 100% achievements. And I'm still playing it. For $25 at full price, that's a lot of game. There are really not many single player games that can give you an infinite amount of fun without additional updates, especially in this genre. But this is the diamond in the rough.
Rouge-likes are generally not my thing. However, this game does a fantastic job of making you feel like you're always working toward the end goal, even if you die within minutes of starting. It also does a great job of making fairly believable lore reasons why you must play the game this way. These are two things that I think most other rouge-likes don't do well, or as well enough as this game.
On first playing, it seems like beating the first area is the entire game. But, you soon find out there are 3 additional areas, all with new enemies, mechanics, places of interest, and items/weapons. Honestly when starting out, the first area seemed like it would have been good enough as a modern game. I was very surprised to find out there were more areas. When first playing in an area, there are several lore-related events that take place to keep things fresh, but to make repeat plays faster, these areas are skipped.
And the game isn't over once you beat it. To get the full story, you need to beat the game 5 times. And don't worry, there are plenty of unlockables and things to make playing the game 5 times interesting. In addition, you level up enough and unlock other abilities making it much faster to play through the game.
Despite saying it isn't Steam Deck compatible, it worked fine for me. However, I do use Windows 10 on my Deck, so apologies if it's a SteamOS issue. The other problem is that the Steam Cloud transfers your configuration between devices, so you'll need to lower graphics settings on the Deck vs the PC if you want any relevant battery life. I consider this a fairly minor issue.
Speaking of, here are other criticisms that again, are fairly minor in the grand scheme:
- Given the random generated aspect of the maps, you'll occasionally come across loot spots or other special interests that are unreachable. In my time with the game, it didn't happen often enough to really ruin the experience, but it did happen.
- If you are moving fast in an area, you can occasionally get an invisible enemy. Luckily this seems to be the lower tier enemies any time it happened to me, but it was sure confusing the first time.
- While I enjoy the simplicity of not having to move the camera, with it instead looking through walls, it could occasionally be difficult to tell what was behind the wall. In 90% of cases I feel like it was displaying the information clearly, but the rest of the time I'd spend running into something I couldn't really understand.
- There are no cutscenes or voice acting, which is surely a result of being a low budget game. Likewise, there is music, but it is very subdued, and there are not many tracks.
- If you play enough lower budget zombie games in the Unity engine, chances are you've seen several assets this game uses (animations, models, sounds, etc). Now, I am playing this game 4 years after release so I guess it's hard to know what came first, but it certainly makes the game seem a little "cheap".
Overall, the industry needs more games like this, and I hope the developer saw enough support with this release to keep going in this direction. I did buy it on release, but shame on me for waiting 4 years to play it. I would rate this game an 80/100.
PS: I have to give a big shout out and thanks for the accessibility options. You can increase the UI size and enable a color blind mode, among other things. These are two settings I used and was very thankful for. You don't see these things in every game

It's an alright game, but it has many flaws. The biggest one - there is no multiplayer. The second flaw on the list that also has to be noted is mutations. I get that developers were trying to introduce new mechanics into the game, that would make this game more unique and not just another zombie shooter, but in my opinion, it only ended up breaking the flow of the game. It is hard enough to gather resources and survive, let alone try to dig up the antidote every time you require one. The mutations should have been optional.
There are some other minor irritating flaws, but close to zero people will actually read this review, so why even bother going into details about it? It is still a good game to have in your library if you own a Steam Deck.

Phenomenal game, progression goes very smoothly, exploring and crafting is intuitive and fun and even the challenge after the main quest keeps one engaged.
I dont particularly care for the story but there is a pretty generic one with a twist of sorts.
The gameplay is where this game shines immensely, highly recommended

this game is definitely a bit buggy & a bit disappointing but overall a great idea... bit wonky in the implementation... 7.7/10.0 there's no great SoundTrack here but a fun grind system: HEHE improvements... like jumping through a window behind a zombie should warrant a HUH?! response, it would be funny... also, i saw my character defy gravity by standing at a 35 degree angle... in the first or 2nd hour of playing (the Michael Jackson lean... but backwards.. so that was a bug that made it look like im playing as a barbie)
it happened when i tried to do an Execution of a zombie on the floor.
-in the first map.. i could run from the car to the boxes with the 4 zombies... from the intro map, but i couldnt run back, got stuck on the invisible map.
-which brings up another point, so much of this game feels like an invisible maze (edit: ergo i speak about making cool map borders, maybe with focus, i speak on this more later on..when i talk about putting glowing blood on the end of the explorable zone), and the maps are pretty small... so far i do need more loot but i only just now bought the 25% boost to Ammo in my first 4 hours of playing.
visuals aint bad, cool upgrade system
= i think it needs a higher performance rate though, or maybe my PC is just getting old, not sure which, read other reviews to figure that out.
-stamina feels like it depletes too quick in the first hours of the game, so that's kinda harsh.
-tutorial could use a bit more info, like telling me the knowledge upgrade system is back home, for a few minutes i thought it was outside, lol, derp. but also how to unlock recipes, i thought i had to use the fire then found out most are from Supply Bags (yellow)
= edited: Focus Mode could use some improvement: How long the focus lasts or how long it takes to recharge? i dont even think they showed me the focus bar... so the tutorial is very basic, TBH.... anyways, it's a very cool addition to the game, but i wish it would last a few seconds longer, like 5 to 10. considering in a panic situation of 5 or 10 ferals coming at me, you really need that extra Oomph! (maybe later they boost it or Stamina does, nothing so far though)
-could use more highlights on the zombies & where you can walk on the map... it feels like the glow indoors activates a bit slow ...sometimes, so when zombies are in buildings, watch out.
-developer must have changed the zombies over time, because from the animations... they move fast and have aimbot like feature for swinging at you, luckily like i said, i think they nerfed it so the zombies miss a lot And response time to attack you is slow often (which makes more sense since their brain is supposed to be rotted). sometimes they hit you with a good jab tho & rarely it misses..(i still need to test if i can kite them to avoid the charged attack or quick jabs). those jabs... keeps the game interesting and sometimes annoying, lol... because they hit you from 2 meters away, which your own MC can do too... which makes me feel like Mike Tyson (dashing) but also seems a bit far fetched.
as fun as the combat is there is a lot to be desired... i feel, slowing down the entire game by 10% could solve these issues, like you often hit 1 to 3 times extra after the zombie is already dead or knocked down, because there's a tiny lag on the response time and the aiming system in punches feels a bit off, like the cursor slightly controls it but then why isn't that indicated with highlighting areas?
-they have the chance to make the MetalGear Solid alert sound or something like Shadow Tatics: blades of the shogun ...style to improve the games functionality, so this does feel unfinished as a game.
+lucky there are not many bugs
+the bugs are very minor, nothing game breaking... except the Opening scene where i couldnt run back to the car.
+the core gameplay is very fun, you collect lootbags that give you yellow points to unlock items at home base for every Food Run into the towns, cities and compounds.
-Xray vision should be (mint) green though, like in the buildings
-would like it if items on the ground that can be looted shined gold or something from double the distance instead of seeing the E/action indicator... because it's good to see where the a useful item might be... (like Shadow Warrior... i kinda want that on all games, but i dislike how this game only alerts you to a Loot Chance when you are very close by and other times it's cool that you can see lootables from far but it needs something more like fire-flies or something like a gold blinking skin = in reality you would see that something is a bag or a box but in the grass here, it's harder to make out what you are seeing, is it a rock or a bag?)
-in the same way bloody bushes should indicate where the map ends or slightly glowing bushes and landscape. (just my ideas as someone who likes the game a lot but sees many things it could have added)
there are many tight paths that should be more blocked off where bushes meet (car) railings or gates.. it looks a bit odd to see this in a game but i guess i've seen it a lot in RealLife too... however i can still jump over such obstacles IRL. in the game it's a 3 meter long blocked off path...that makes the map smaller, and is therefore annoying.
- save function is a bit odd, and the opening scene i tried to play it through 4 times to see if i could defeat the horde, you obviously cant, lol... some audio saying ''it's okay, we're gonna be okay'' that would have helped to calm me and let me go with the story onwards... instead of replaying the segment like a perfectionist. 7.7/10.0 because the idea rocks, but a lot of functions should be added.
- zombies get stuck in trees and start walking in the air like 3 times in 15 hours, so that's something, i just need their Loot!

You can go in stealthy.
You can go in hard.
Solid concept (the infected-doomed serving a purpose in the last days on this mortal coil), easy controls, plenty of choices, and a glitch-free experience.
It's tough at first, and unforgiving throughout if you push it past common sense and into greed, but I have zero complaints.
