Hate to do this, I was looking forward to this but everything just feels too clunky to even play the game, the screen resolutions feel off, the windowed mode is glitchy (mouse clicks won't register, mouse will only go half way up the screen, graphical glitches that weren't in the original version) If you enjoyed the original game, that's still here, but this felt like a quick port, shovel it out the door, thanks for the money. If you enjoyed it back in the day, there's still fun to be had, if you can put up with the issues the game still plays like it did 20+ years ago. Added note: If you're on the fence, if you're able to do a refund, may be worth giving it a try.

Leading a group of heroes through various maps, fighting enemies, choosing the appropriate hero for clearing the path, collecting treasures and finding hidden areas sure make time fly by.

A forgotten gem. I enjoyed playing it again after many years and finally beating it. Though, I wish it had achievements. The gameplay is very simple: you have 4 classes of characters, each with their weaknesses and strenghts, which use a respective colection of weapons, and the player just points & clicks to attack enemies. But you'll have to be creative with the way you use their abilities, or you'll not last long. The player also has to solve puzzles by using the specific atributes of each class. This version uses Direct Draw. You may use dgVoodoo2 to make it run with DX12 at 4K.

It's a rather primitive but creative and challenging RPG from the 90's. It's worth a try out of nostalgia or if you love video games history, especially at this price point and the simple fact that it works perfectly with no hickups on modern systems. Worth it !

It reminds me of simplier times and brings me back 20 years....never could play it (and actually enjoy it) since my childhood computer was also the one computer in the house.... SO GLAD I FOUND THIS!!! Now if only i could find my other favorite game "RAGE OF MAGES" Then my childhood fun would be almost complete

If you enjoy the old school rpg style that has you sending an ever-growing party across a map in point and click ways to slap around fantasy critters with voiceover and honestly clever traps that do not try too hard for what the game can do, Hexplore is a hidden gem. The Steam version plays just as it did on my Pentium 200Mhz, and easily maintains a framerate that is pretty. The game remains at it's core just as it originally did, complete with VGA optimized graphics that on modern cards will never appear anything more than grainy, unless there is a texture revamp out there. I loved this game in the early 2000's and it remains just as fun today.

Nostalgia is definitely needed for this one. As a kid I had a lot of fun playing this game when it was released (no, not in 2020 as shown on the Steam page, but in 1998). It's very grindy and outdated now, but at the time I was blown away by the rotating camera view. Also, game ending is still unique haha http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3031652043 http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=3031651468

For people who played the game back then: It's the same. Thankfully I did not experience any technican issues, besides that I always have to start tha game twice, because it freezes on the first start. For new people: It's a nice oldschool (A)RPG with unique graphics. There are two things that are a bit unusual for the modern eye: -The player's field of view is a bit narrow, in a bigger battle you will not see all the action at once on the screen. -You have to rotate your angle of view A LOT., because you have to look for switches and entrences by inspecting every scenery from multiple angles. Constantly adjusting the point of view rotation can be a bit frustrating.
