Dark Room Reviews

He stared at the darkness and thinking . In early morning , when all the doors were locked , they had all wanted to come in , and now that he had opened one door and the other had apparently been opened during the day , no one came in and even the keys were on the other side of the doors ...

A bit of a shame; this point & click has great potential. The art is nice to look at, atmosphere feels fitting, the story as far as I got into it felt interesting, but... the audio is awful, the mechanic of 'moving around' feels heavy and slow, the puzzles are either too easy or not logical at all,... And - like it or not - it has a slide puzzle lol. I'll watch a playthrough rather than having to play through it myself. If you have more patience and better ears than me, this game is for you. Unfortunately it just is not for me.

Not a bad little point and click, indie-horror game. The game is super short but has decent atmosphere, an okay story and some confusing puzzles on the harder difficulties.

This would be a really good game if not for the annoying puzzles. I know that a lot of point and click games involve tough puzzles that make you think hard to figure them out, which is fine, if you get stuck there's usually a walkthrough that can help with that- but some of these puzzles were plain tedious and didn't involve actual logic, just moving tiles around etc, which wouldn't be so bad if they could be skipped. Those that were logic based could be very confusing, one in particular was so nonsensical I just looked up a walkthrough as I got that fed up with it. I actually played about an hour of it before, left it for ages then decided to start over as I couldn't remember anything from the first time playing, including why I didn't finish playing... and then remembered when hit with the first moving-tiles-around puzzle. I also buy point and click games precisely to avoid having to use any kind of speed or dexterity and one particular 'puzzle' was such a nuisance for this reason, I gave up in the end before getting irritated to the point of hurling my laptop at the wall. Only my personal taste, some people might enjoy these types of puzzles, but the issue I have really is that there's no way to skip them if you start losing the will to live.

The game would be fine if it wasn't for the overly cryptic puzzles. Clues are scattered all over the house, unclear what puzzle they belong to, sometimes almost invisible. Most of the time the clues are nowhere enough to find the solution and a lot of trial & error is required. Someone may like this sort of gameplay, but spending an hour on a puzzle just because the clues are so vague, is not my thing.

Dark Room = 2-3 Hours of Gameplay I don't normally stick through a point-and-click game such as this. With my brain injury, hard puzzles aren't something I generally enjoy; but this game was pretty cool. I liked the atmosphere, sound, style and general movement. Some puzzles weren't as straightforward as others but, I didn't mind a whole lot. And if you get majorly stuck, there is a helpful guide from the community on here. One thing I will say is that I would've liked the cutscenes to change along with the three difficulties. Because it was the same each time, I found myself skipping them in search for the next puzzle. Overall I had a good experience and would rate this 3.5/5.

Not bad, in general, but it took me a long time to get past the red ball grid thing. It's a test of manual dexterity, which I apparently lack, rather than a puzzle. Also, the translation could use some work. Some of the puzzles are extremely obscure, but I can get around that. I don't really care about story, but it seemed that the story was disjointed. Whatever. For me it's about the puzzles.

The idea, the story is interesting and has potential. Could be a cool horror novel! As for the game itself, it is not good. Bad translation, anti-ergonomic surface, puzzles are the opposite of fun or challenging. If this is a first try at making a game, then it is commendable. But it needs to be better.

The game environments is very strange and Saw art!👍 The first ending shocked me and I was not interested, but when I realized that the second ending was related to the first ending, I changed my mind. In general, I suggest you try all the endings. Of course, if you have strong nerves and mind for some crazy puzzles! 😐😂

Good: - Extremely good value - Some puzzles are truly brain teasers, will require you to take a step back and open up your mind. - Puzzles will vary depending on difficulty, although not as coherent as it could be as some actually get easier (not sure if it's just randomness instead) - Good use of fine art - Each difficulty level needs to be earned/unlocked which suits the game well Meh: A few Puzzles that can't be fully deduced in game (require knowledge of historical artists/composers). Bad: Many typos A horrible action/timing puzzle (the arrow key one) Too many puzzles are pure duplicates across difficulty levels

Visually pleasing game, but it isn't ground breaking, maybe for a point and click game it's impressive? I don't know. But most of all I'm only in for a few minutes and I can not stand the translation. I get it, they wanted their game to be in English so the audience is bigger, but the thing is, for a game that is meant to be immersive, scary, mysterious and all good things the language has to be better. The grammar mistakes are so bad, it's very apparent that the people who did the writing does not have the language skills to write in English. I can't feel immersed when I'm cringing at the text and how bad it is at times. And what is with the excessive use of "!", nobody writes like that. Really, nobody does. You may as well have written it all in caps considering the amount of exlamation marks used. I guess everyone in this world is yelling every sentence. There are interesting parts of this game, unfortunately for the genre the writing has to be better than subpar. You're competing with incredibly strong titles and this genre relies heavily on the writing. There's also another problem for me personally, I don't like when I don't know what I can and can't interact with. Most well made point and click games will give you a visual indication of what objects you can interact with or view as well as where you can investigate closer. It's annoying having to click everywhere and having to make a guess if you miss something or can look somewhere. If you don't mind terrible writing then by all means go for it, maybe this review is a bit harsh, but this game looked impressive by the images and trailers so I expected it to be better.
