Played the 3D remake and rec that instead of this one. This one is still good! Just I like the 3D remake more

Best of the NES trilogy by far. Has a nice whimsy that's slowly crushed by the gauntlet at the end.

A nice quick FF. In my opinion the first of the first three games that actually starts to feel like a Final Fantasy game. They were definitely still trying to figure out what worked, and what didn’t, but nonetheless enjoyable from start to finish.
For achievement hunters; there are some highly missable bestiary entries and chests. Might want a guide for those. The rest is pretty straightforward “just play to unlock” stuff.

Final Fantasy III is a master piece, I can't believe how far they managed to push it on NES hardware originally. I had played the 3D remake on android, but I vastly prefer this pixel remaster.
This is an old game - and it's 90% combat and 10% exploration, and the game loop is very repetitive, so it's best enjoyed in short spurts of 20-60 mins, but if you like old school J-RPGs this is it, the combat is fantastic, fast and exiting, the game play is fun, and now you can finally save inside dungeons which makes the final dungeon a lot less frustrating.
This game probably has the most balanced combat of the whole series, not too easy and not too hard, just perfect. I only really had to grind in one dungeon - yes I am looking at you cave of darkness, but grinding was a part of old school games, and optimising grinding ended up being a lot of fun in the end.
This is the first final fantasy to introduce a lot of classes, for example the summoning magic and geomancers. The game also has a lot of replayability is you want to try different party compositions.
The game takes about 20h, but it took me three weeks to beat it because I played it in smaller pieces of about an hour a day.

8/10 - It is Final Fantasy though and through.
This game improves on almost everything from the first two games and it introduces some of the core concepts that stuck with the series' later titles.
The story is decent, with a big development in narrative compared to the previous game. The map and the traversal methods are very interesting this time and the expansion of the job system is truly amazing. For the first time the different jobs are a much bigger part of the game, with significant differences between each other. We finally get introduced to the summoning system.
Overall, it's a very good experience, with some minor hiccups in enemy balancing at the end. To me it's the ideal entry point for someone trying to get into the series.

The first real good story in the final fantasy series. The first classic in the series. Quite a long game if you're not using a walkthrough. Good plot and characters. Gameplay is great. The job system is awesome.
For me this was my first fav in the series. then i played ffVI and fell in love...
Definately worth a playthrough :)

Game is good But the worst FF game imo
They were still trying to forge a brand new job system, some jobs feel ussless and others feel invincible
You start the game with 4 identical fat looking babys in armor (onion knight looks ugly af lol)
The story saves this game, its worth a play and isn't deadweight if you buy the bundle

ive been playing the og ff games in order and so far this one has been my favorite. The story is good and as a ff14 player its cool to see the origins of a lot of the core ideas in the games story. Plus it feels like this game cheats you the least which is always amazing

Its a classic Final Fantasy game with a nice remaster. Dont get stuck on having any one "job" as youll need to switch to keep your stats up with the enemies.
The turn based battles might feel slow compared to todays action RPGs but the story is pretty solid. I think this is the first good final fantasy game. 1 and 2 were ok. The pixel remaster looks so much better then the older 3d games.

Was pretty fun up until the end where you - without warning - get trapped into the end game with no way to leave. Ruined the whole game. Also jobs are pretty useless.
