Voidspace Reviews
A highly experimental SCIFI sandbox MMORPG. Using only 2D, top-down visuals, we're attempting to push the limits of the MMO genre to create a game world that is similar in some ways to Ready Player One. Featuring perma-death, and player societies. Every man-made object is crafted by a real player.

Im very intrigued by this game. Tutorial holds your hand a little, but leaves you to kinda explore and figure it out. Which I had no problem doing. Community was a help for sure. It has amazing potential, and it quite fun. The majority of players own, and enjoy the game. Purchased through the actual website, instead of steam though. Im hoping to see it blossom in the future.

Warning! This game requires a ton of patience. Its a cool concept and gameplay is enjoyable once you actually figure stuff out. Get on the discord and ask questions. It helps. Server sometimes has issues. If you are willing to work through the kinks its pretty good.

This game is basically a dead-body simulator. A couple of interesting bits, but disappointing overall.

If you don't mind being essentially an alpha tester while the game is being actively developed, you like resource management simulations, you think space is cool, and/or you like the idea of possibly having a voice in the development of a video game, then you might enjoy Voidspace!
It's an interesting experiment, an entirely player-driven shared world with none of the usual NPCs and "Go fetch this thing" quests. There's a ways to go, so definitely don't buy this game expecting a finished product. But I'm enjoying the heck out of it, and am enjoying watching the development progress!

Game is advertised as an MMO Sandbox but the developers have abandoned it.
Their official website, formerly located here, https://www.voidspacegame.com/?s=cnp.pin has been taken down and their official discord server has been deleted.
As the servers are no longer online the game is completely unplayable.
The games developer has made 0 statements regarding the deletion of the official website, discord, or why the servers are down.

This game, even in its Early Access form, scratches a rare itch for me.
It's crafting + survival in the wild, with no real rules but the ones you and other players create. Definitely a long-term payoff kind of game versus short-term fun. It's super open ended by design, and you actually have to strategize and think about how to even play to get the gaming experience you're looking for.
A super casual gamer who only wants to farm and not fight could find a haven here... if they spawn remotely enough. A competitive player who wants to start an empire is going to have to find out how to work with others. Someone who only wants to cause chaos could find fun as well... depending on how well the player societies have built up defences around such things. A group of friends could spawn a remote organization and ignore everyone else.
On and on.
There's also a good dev mentality of keeping everything F2P, with $ only going toward cosmetics. Power in the game can ostensibly be bought with the plan to involve crypto, but since the economy is 99% player driven, any whales looking to disrupt the market would be pumping their resources into other people... so there's some interesting balancing mechanisms going on here.

Cellphone game where every action has a clock/timer attached to it (EVERY ACTION). in tutorial and times are timers in tens of seconds.
There are a comical number of progress bars in this game. You need to research all items to get ideas (timer), which might generate a design. Each item might be able to generate more than one design, so more timer. Then that design is just an idea in its current form, so you need to research it again to make a usable design (so obviously another timer). It also seems like at later stages that there will be a random element (so repeat it all again). To build from the usable design, there is also obviously a timer. And obviously what you're building from had timers that were required to make those building materials, and those materials will have multiple stages of tiers that they were built in.

Continuous problems with connection. If you lose connection, you die and lose everything you need to continue playing the game. I restarted 5 times before I gave up. The game is not terrible, but with current problems, it is not playable.

This is an early review that may update over time (at posting, 2 hours of play time):
Pros:
* Very open world, you make what you want of the environment.
* Plenty of asteroids and other resources to get you established and moving forward.
* Lots of diverse research and experience trees to explore that unlock the ability to craft and use new equipment.
* Inventory management for ships, person, and containers are separate.
* It's fun from an initial survival perspective. I'm not much past initial establishment, but it's getting fun quick!!
Cons:
* The introductory quest line is a bit light to work through, but does establish the basic fundamentals of the game. Hoping this expands over time.
* You seem to need more 'storage' space fast, and while you can use containers as temporary storage, base construction becomes a must fairly quick to get organized.
* If you're not sure 'how' to unlock something (IE: Research Pre-Requisites), you can spend a lot of time researching things you don't need for the specific technology.
Neutral / Undetermined:
* In App Purchases -- I haven't needed any of the currency the game is selling, but I am questioning with a WTF motivator here. $25 for the game + in app purchases. I'm thinking this needs more thought and rework; however, could just be cosmetics. The jury is out, and I'm waiting for more information.
TLDR: For a price point of $25 (on sale $22.49 at posting), it's worth it if you're willing to invest in an EARLY ACCESS game. It needs polish; however, the fundamental mechanics are available in game. Tutorial needs elaboration, but it's not a bad game.

I would like to give this a good review. I love what they are trying to do with the game, but at present, it's not much of a game. it's a waiting simulator. i constantly found myself thinking well in 10 minutes i may get to do something, but it's just more waiting. you research stuff to build (x minutes) then you research the stuff to actually build it (y minutes) then you build the parts (z minutes) then when that's finally done you build the actual thing (xyz minutes) rinse and repeat. too much time staring at a screen where nothings happening and nothings going to happen for x minutes time.
