A great game ruined by constant interruptions, condescending hints and the most annoying Navi clone I have ever seen.

Eh, a neutral leaning into a negative review simply because I got started getting bored about 6-7 hours in and there are a few things I found to be really annoying about the game. Graphical it looks ok with a fairly standard pixel art look. A few spots in the game look really nice and serene, but most of it is kind of bland IMO. Same for the combat - nothing really new and nothing really too challenging, especially once you gain a specific chip and combine it with duplicates of other chips and weapon upgrades. I was able to 2-shot bosses at that point. Story is also fairly standard with no real twists or surprises. Good is good and bad is bad type thing. The negatives:
- I feel a lot of the game is artificially padded. Every time you kill a boss and gain a shard you go through this annoying sequence of getting the invisible platform to show so you can proceed to the next invisible platform until you reach once is essentially an exit. Hell, even after you defeat the final boss you are made to
Carry your lover's unconcious body through an escape sequence with minor enemies
. Then you've got places where you have to constantly throw a switch to go through one area, then go back and throw it again to go through another.
- 2 area designs that kind of add to the "artificial padding" - one with wind that constantly blows and moves you, forcing you deal with that while platforming. No it's not difficult, but it makes you pause and wait to move on. Then you've got another area where you're forced to use an
ice block weapon/tool
to get through certain areas. Again, seems to artificially slow you down without providing any challenge or fun factor.
- Because of the artificial padding, it makes the "countdown system" very annoying to deal with. I'm glad they provide the option to disable it at least, otherwise I would've likely stopped playing.
- Dialog/hint and upgrade system - the constant blatantly obvious "hints" of your robot and having to go through the same dialog repeatedly. Yes I know I shouldn't go this way when I come across a certain enemy. Yes I know I can use cogs. Yes I know I can upgrade. Stop pestering me. Same thing with the upgrade system - if I've got a lot of bolts/currency and want to upgrade a weapon more than 1 level, I shouldn't have to repeatedly go through the same menu options again and again. Just let me just hit the upgrade button again without exiting the menu every time I select it.
I think if you really dig action/adventure pixel art games surrounding robots, check this out. Honestly though, I don't think you would miss out on skipping this - there are far more interesting and entertaining games like Hyper Light Drifter, Eastward, or Tunic that would be more worth your time if you haven't played them.

A neat mix of Zelda lock and key dungeons with key items, and metroidvania-with-a-touch-of-souls. The big mechanic, all NPCs and the player having a time limit on their life, serves as a great way to put tension on your progress. Which does mean you aren't going to spend as much time exploring and backtracking for 100% map completion or items, but that works in favour of the game. It propels you forward through its dungeons and towards an ending. Well worth your time

Fantansic Zelda like game with a focus on parry combat.
It can be understated, the parry combat feels great, and there were so many bosses where I got wrecked the first time, but I learned their patterns. So the second time I perfected the boss and it felt amazing.
The game does add some pressure from the time mechanic which plays against it a bit, but the world throws enough of the time adding item at you that you can possibly save everyone with time to spare. Even then you can turn off the timer (at any time) and not much would be lost from the game.
The true ending I had to look up, because it's the only secret in the game with no hinting.

The combat and movement are simple, but allow for skill expression. It's interesting to have the world open up more through different uses of weapons, crafting, and hidden tech. Being able to craft various key items with hidden recipes is cool for repeat playthroughs and speedruns. The game is also a nice length and doesn't drag on.

For a game whose central gimmick is a time limit for every single character it's insane how it doesn't matter in the slightest. You play this game for the good mix of combat, exploration and dungeon crawling. The time limits essentially boil down to "give this character the limited time extension item enough times to get their special item" which means you're basically doing it for a material reward, regardless of how much time they actually have (time which is extremely forgiving, I beat the game without anyone even CLOSE to dying). Nevermind the fact that the items are mostly not even worth it considering how many useless systems this game has. Crafting, digging, fishing, all present and all completely ignorable. Cogs are a cool system in concept but they're way too much of a hassle to craft for how easy the game is and how little they help you. Chips are the best system but most chips are still very underwhelming and, again, crafting them is not worth. Every system more or less feeds into the others which would be good if they weren't all just not worth interacting with! The game is much more fun if you just go through it and ignore 90% of these systems. It features a pretty good combat system, which is unfortunately brought down by the extremely annoying, terribly telegraphed enemies, with attacks so fast you can never reliably parry them. Also has a really fun movement system (shout out to the spinner) with some creative level design utlizing its hidden quirks to make a very interconnected world, though some of the key items you get make it unbearably tedious to explore (the ice gun in particular). And as for the dungeons, they are equal parts really fun and, particularly the last two, extremely infuriating. The bosses are very underwhelming too. What is just outright bad in this game is the writing and the dialogue, with the story being very much nothing too. And this game in particular really needed actually good writing, considering you are supposed to feel compelled to save these characters and make careful choices of who has the privilege to have their ever diminishing time left extended. Except you don't even really interact or learn much about them, regardless of the bad writing, so in the end you don't even care if they die, which, reiterating my main point, makes the central gimmick of the game is not at all a factor. But overall, it's a still a fun time, I just wish it was a little more focused on what it actually is.

Probably some of the best gameplay in a while, and I love the character designs, artstyle and environment.
The time limit really adds tension and weight to your actions. You really feel like you're trying to save the world. It's a good game! I hope you check it out.

If you are at all into metroidvania's or Legend of Zelda, seriously consider picking this up. The gameplay is fast paced and keeps you moving- ALL. THE. TIME. its seriously amazing, the stress of the timer really does weigh in on every action you make, makes you want to play fast, and makes the story feel so much more real. If you are planning to play this game, please choose to have SOME time limit, you'll thank me. The combat is engaging as hell, and the puzzles are really interesting and fun. oh, and obviously, the fucking amazing pixel art. Characters are varied and interesting with sick designs, fuck this game is so cool.

A really nice game. Reminds me more of the older zelda titles than I expected. The time mechanics might be scary at first, but in reality on the default difficulty they are so lenient that you are unlikely to actually run into issues. The story is decent but personally I didn't find that it was in depth enough or that it came to an especially satisfying conclusion. It was still a lot of fun to play, and I think there's a lot of potential for a second playthrough after finding different progression routes.

An indie take on top-down 2D Zelda, with fantastic movement and solid dungeons. Love that the protagonist is basically gay Mega Man. Great big honkin' jump attacks with a giant axe. Soundtrack is aces.
There's a very stressful-sounding timer mechanic that runs counter to how I like to play these kinds of games (slowly), but thankfully it can be turned off entirely with zero fuss.
