Honestly, this is sort of a begrudging "Recommended". I do like the After Years, it does some neat stuff. I'm not without complaints. It relies too much on FF4 as a basis compared to other FF sequels, for example. But man, am I glad I played the PSP version as my first experience. The same complaints I have from FF3 3D and FF4 3D are here: characters models don't look great in HD, camera is far too zoomed in due to being intended for handheld, atrocious font choice, slow animations in battle compared to 2D. But at least you could mitigate some of those in the FF3 3D and FF4 3D by playing the original DS version. The only other version of FF4 TAY 3D mobile is on Mobile. And at least FF3 3D and FF4 3D offered unique content compared to their 2D variants. But FF4 TAY 3D mostly just removes content. Generally, it's bonus content in the original that only existed to pad out its original episodic release format, but it also removes a lot of cool bosses in the final dungeon that feel more like a cost saving measure. It replaces them with recolored Lunar Summon bosses, meaning this version does have some TECHNICALLY unique content. But it's the most skippable unique content of any FF game I've played thus far. TAY isn't an amazing game already, but I like it enough to still mark it as "Recommended" here. But I further Reccomend playing the PSP version instead, if you can..
