I want to start this review by saying that I am pretty much a noob compared to majority of players that are still playing this game so maybe I dont have enough experience yet to post a definitive review. But I still think that I might have some helpful tips for anybody who still thinks about buying that game in its current state. So let's start with the obvious, this is pretty much a dead game, at best it has maybe 1 000 players globally currently playing it. Which is not a lot for a PvP game that used to be very popular 5 years ago. That means that most players left are sweatlords, trolls, cheaters and pretty much really pro veteran gamers. As a newbie that barely finished games tutorial you will be killed a lot, over and over and over again, you will be feinted (a technique of canceling your attack to trick enemy into parrying) into insanity, players will make insane drags (delayed attacks done by moving your mouse cursor opposite to direction of the hit) with their weapons that you will have no chance of blocking or they will execute so unreadable animations you will die from confusion (and reading animations is very important in this game). The developers might have tricked you with their advertisment of realistic fights but trust me, once you step on the sweat drenched servers you will see that those fights look more like ballet dances or two drunk knights having a seizure. And the worst part? You will have to fight like that as well unless you want to be farmed by veterans for easy kills. The game is merciless for newcomers nowadays, you either adapt, learn from your mistakes and "git gud" fast or you rage quit and uninstall the game. You have been warned. However on a more positive side I want to say that once you change your mindset a little bit, game can be ridiculously fun even for a noob like me that used to be killed 20 times per minute, now I only get killed 15 times per minute but... let's not talk about that! So what I recommend to do in this game is to... laugh at the absurdity. Dont play this game expecting to dominate and become some elite player, it is too late for that and would require you to sacrifice your sanity and health for that. You can learn and git gud a little bit so you dont get mauled every time you duel someone but you dont aim for black belt either. Taking it easy helps with frustration that comes from that game, you are not a worse person because some sweatlord with 10k hours keeps beheading you over and over again. Another reason to take it easy is the fact that most people playing that game aren't particularly serious about it either. On many servers players either use commands to build some random stuff, enlarge their weapons so it looks like they are swinging giant hammers, or straight up spawn pistols and shoot everybody. Many top players will pick up the most ridiculous outfits and weapons and still can defeat some rookie with heavy metal plate armor. Is it realistic? Not at all. But is it fun and makes you laugh? Absolutely! So yeah don't tryhard too much and just ride the wave of chaos and insanity that mordhau in 2025 has to offer, that is possibly the best way to play that game at that point.
