First question: what would bloodborne be if it was an FPS? Answer: it would be Crossbow: Bloodnight.
Second question: is Crossbow: Bloodnight better than Devil Daggers? Answer: it depends. Compared to DD, it has a faster pace, because enemies are much faster. However, they are also easier to deal with, and you have a wider range of abilities. You can dash, you can shoot a slower, but much powerful blow (different from the shotgun blow, which is also present), and you can use a sort of super-attack which reloads with time. It reloads VERY slowly, but when used, it really makes a mess! Enemies spawn always in the same places, which are easy to memorize, however, at a certain point, they will be so many that it will be VERY difficult to survive past 120 seconds. Only bigger creatures one-shot you, lesser creatures need two hits, so you can actually survive if you make a mistake, and this is a huge improvement compared to DD, which relies too much on luck. DD, in my opinion, is better than this game from the point of view of the difficulty curve: I feel that in this game the difficulty spike arrives too early, around 100 seconds, while in DD it arrives at 200 seconds, so single runs are a bit longer. Talking about ambience and graphics, Crossbow: Bloodnight is superb, a wonderful gothic horror nightmare with Lovecraftian vibes, and the crossbow is beautiful, a masterpiece of steampunk weaponry. So, if you liked DD, you must absolutely try this, and then draw your conclusions. For its price tag, this game has very much to offer, trust me.
