Before we start, there is one thing it is important to precise: in this game, you DON'T fight titans. This is NOT a fighting game, this is a completely peaceful and relaxing game without even the slightest form of violence or gore. If you want a carnage, you should look somewhere else.
Now, for those who are still here, this is my review.
It is hard to describe how beautiful this game is. I mean it. So I will just list its most important strengths:
- main concept: the main idea of this game is truly original. Titans won't hurt you in any way, but you can interact with them in multiple occasions, usually through light. Basically, the titans you will encounter in this game got lost in some way, and you have to help them go back home before someone gets hurt. In order to do this, you have to complete some tasks, nothing too complicated, but fun enough to keep you always entertained. And believe me: once you see a titan happily returning home, the satisfaction is huge!
- atmosphere and immersion: the ambience of this game is fantastic, wonderfully eerie, and the graphics are very good, so you can fully enjoy it. The weather effects, the light effects, the sound effects, all is perfectly designed to make you feel as you were truly inside the game. Do you want some examples? You can interact with EVERY SINGLE COMPONENT of the car's cockpit, including the radio, the lights and the handbrake, and whenever you open the car's window, the volume of the outside sound effects suddenly increases, like in real life! The atmosphere can be a bit creepy in some occasions, but overall the game is extremely relaxing. And by saying relaxing, I don't mean boring. On the contrary, the immersion is so total, that you will continuously feel engaged, and your fun will never fade, not for a second!
- the titans: the protagonists, of course! They are... I think the right word is majestic. They are truly imposing, but they are so beautiful to look at (especially the last!), that you will never feel scared, just... fascinated by their strength and their elegance. Every first encounter is memorable, trust me!
- last but not least, the developer himself: he constantly updates his game with new improvements, he is open to criticism, and, even if he is not an expert in coding, he manages to convey beautiful emotions in a unique way, like... a poet, I would say. I talked to him multiple times in the forums, and I clearly felt all his passion, so I definitely want to see other games from him in the future!
I think there is still some work to do on this game, like improving the (multiple) endings and adding an introduction, but, in its current state, Titan Chaser is already a beautiful and unique gem, an astonishing experience everyone should try at least once in their lives. If you want advice from a person who has played A LOT of games in his life (me), this game is worth MUCH more than its price tag, so if I were you, I wouldn't hesitate to buy it.
Cheers guys!
