Avis sur Tesla Force
Avec la science en guise de super-pouvoir, chargez vos bobines et déchaînez la foudre ! Fort des infinies possibilités de son système de génération procédurale, Tesla Force est un jeu rogue-lite de tir en vue de dessus.

I initialy gave a negative review during beta testing.
I am pleased to say the latest releases turned me from sceptical into a more enthusiastic player and re-edit significantly my initial review.
Many issues have been addressed since beta testing, and few enough remains so I can recommand this game, more especially if you are a casual gamer and haven't been playing Tesla vs Lovecraft before ( be aware that Tesla Force is quite EASIER than its predessessor, the few boss fights featured in the game are an anti-climax to say the least ).
Out of the issues/ dev choices I still find while playing:
Campaign progression:
Splitting the campaign in chapters is okay but why the hell did the devs resets weaponry and perks while starting a new chapter ???
Not only there is no storyline to back up such balancing, but also it simply kills any sense of achievement and progression into the campaign. I can hardly think of any shooter having made this kind of call and for good reason: Once you killed a boss, your reward is to keep going....naked. Meh !
*** After release note***
This issue has been mitigated a bit by allowing players to buy weaponry and perks in between chapters instead of just looting them...
it replaces campaign progress rewards by farming mechanics.
it also rewards players to keep playing the game to void lack of equipment in early tiers of the game.
so...It is not as bad as it used to be but it still creates an issue that did not exists in Tesla vs Lovecraft.

Out of the ongoing issues I had since the release:
UI:
--Perks
Art direction is schizophrenic and harbour a steampunk art and iconography on most department except character perks. Perks icons are coming straight out of an over colourful and cartoony 7+ kid game. Tesla vs Lovecraft was way more coherent in that respect.
Gameplay
-You cannot teleport through short crevasses, even though distance separating both sides of the rift are much shorter than your teleport jump.
-Mecha teleport is a mess and does not allow you to cross a passage you would not be able to walk into, even if the narrow passage is much shorter than your teleport jump.
***I may be biased on this one, levels design might have something to do with this: it was not an issue to me in Tesla vs Lovecraft but it became one in Tesla Force.
Dev kindly indicates the Mech does not teleport but dashes instead.
While this may be how it plays, gamefeel is identical.
There is no significant in games clues to dissociates both mechanics.
Dashes does not dramatically damages opponent and it is mostly used for breaking environment or evasive manoeuvres.
As it stands and in that respect, it is about 80% identical to a teleport.

-No logical explanation either to define when or why you fire one weapon instead of the other, neither when it is going to switch.
***Dev answered this one but quite frankly I still don't get how I can select which weapon option I need to shoot with
-To this date the “chtonian bestiary” has not much expanded and it seems fair to assess that 90% of the 3D game assets are identical to Tesla vs Lovecraft.
***after release note***
IF Tesla Force is as thoroughly maintained and rebalanced in the future than Tesla vs Lovecraft, I have no doubt it will keep growing on me, and outlive its predessessor in my library.
