This game is really good! It has a beautiful artstyle and interesting spin on the battle mechanics. you have to constantly move around your units to doge attacks. Each turn feels like a mini-puzzle. The enemies come in waves and the game throws some seemingly impossible obstacles into your way but in 99% of the cases there is a way out.
Pros:
-interesting battle mechanis
-varied and interesting bosses, you have to always adapt your strategy
-gorgeous artstyle and very good music and sounddesign
-in order to unlock the different cards and items you have to complete fun challenges
-most of the cards synergize with each other. you will find interesting new combos for 100+ hours. if you include mods, you can easily double that time.
-the combos can be very satisfying if you pull them of.
Cons:
- the game is very punishing, especially if you are new to the game. There is no undo button and any mistake can instantly cost you the run.
- the game expects you to know the bosses very well. on the higher difficulty levels you have to plan your turns very well advance, otherwise you will get instantly crushed
- the card pool is sizeable but not incredible deep.
- some archetypes are still very underpowered. It is pretty much impossible to win with a teeth build.
- the process to unlock the final boss (and the most fun item) is incredible time consuming. a run in wildfrost needs about 40-60 min to be completed. you have to finish a run on every difficulty to unlock the final boss. this can easily take 15+ hours..
- the true final boss makes it impossible to move your units around and it scales incredibly fast. This makes it a pure damage race. It isn't bad but in a way it is the least unique fight in the game
all in all I give the game a 9,5/10
