this is definitely the most unique rpg maker game i've played and i absolutely love the art direction and visuals, this game is so stunning. i've had a lot of fun with it, i'm not quite done with it yet but i'm very close to finishing it and i'm very excited to see how it ends! the english translation unfortunately has a few errors but i was fine with overlooking that, i did have to use a walkthrough a couple times as it is very challenging and i kinda suck at puzzles. the puzzles are pretty complex but i can see where the hints lied once i'd seen the solution. there are a few bugs that caused me to have to reload the game unfortunately, but i had enough patience to work around it. i think i do have a bias towards this game because the visuals are really beautiful and remind me of games such as sanitarium and clock tower. overall it's very cute and if you have the patience to try and figure out the puzzles and work around some of the bugs then i highly recommend it!

I spent four hours just wandering around a house with a bunch of locked doors. I got about two of them open. I solved one puzzle by brute force.
I still have no idea what's up with those numbers written in luminescent paint or that stupid keymold that the candle wax did nothing to after I lit the candleabra.
Anyway at 4 hours, I felt like I wasted enough time on this game. Most of the puzzles made no sense to me and I couldn't find any guide for it, so I'm done.
Video (gameplay + commentary):
https://youtu.be/FlivC-IIz2k
NOTE:
I am eager to turn this "not recommended" review into a "recommended" one as I actually like this game quite a bit. The reason it's currently not recommended is because I ran into a showstopping bug (or two) that's preventing further progress, as well as a couple other issues that I think could deter players. Once the issues have been worked out I'll happily turn this review to a thumbs up.
Review:
This is a neat indie adventure game with puzzles and some light horror (so far) combined with an interesting premise. It has some launch day bugs to work out, but once it does that I think it's going to be a charming game. You play as Amanda who is staying with a supposed family friend while your father is off trying to locate your mother who went missing. The mansion you end up going to has its own share of sinister secrets that you uncover as you explore the mansion following an unexpected power outage. The lore scattered throughout is interesting and helps you get a picture of what's really going on. The visuals are old school but charming. If you've ever played the cult classic SNES game The 7th Saga, it looks a little like that, and also like another indie game that came out recently called Horns of Fear. Sound is minimal with the main backdrop being the sound of rain outside. To gain access to the whole mansion you'll have to explore, gather items, and solve some puzzles. Some of these puzzles are pretty straight forward, like locating a key card that clearly opens a door with a card reader on it while others can get fairly obtuse. It reminds me a lot of early Resident Evil where you're looking for weird objects or special keys to unlock certain doors. There are also a few puzzles I sincerely couldn't understand that involved pushing buttons in a certain sequence and I was comically able to solve two of them by just mashing buttons until something worked. All this being said, there are a few issues with the game that I think will really need to be refined/fixed before it can be comfortably playable. This includes: - Most importantly, there are some showstopping bugs. Early on in the game you get a Zippo lighter and if you try to use the "combine" function, the game throws a crash error and you have to close/re-open the game. There was another bug I ran into later where trying to read something on a desk caused the game to crash as well. These bugs are obviously unfortunate because they prevent the player from progressing, and more systemically they've left me feeling very cautious about my exploration for fear that I'm going to accidentally crash the game. - English localization is spotty with lots of grammatically bizarre sentences, typos, and some text not translated at all. - Character collision is hit or miss with times where your character can pass through solid objects (mainly furniture). She can sometimes also pass through closed doors which is potentially problematic since it means you could bypass puzzles. - Controller support is incomplete. Keyboard controls are odd at first but work fine. As mentioned above, I'm really hoping/looking forward to the bugs being fixed so that I can recommend the game. I think it'll be pretty neat once the launch day bugs are worked out. Stay tuned for that and don't write this game off!
