Story is centered around how the characters feel, but the motivations are weak/unclear and the "voice" (choice of words) of the characters is not useful to developing an idea of what they stand for or at times does not match with convictions, motivations or events.
The gameplay is turn based, in a fireEmblem attacks are returned with a counter unless range is mismatched, however in this game the attackers turn is the attackers turn, there is no counter. Later you unlock skills/abilities and equip stat modifiers, but its farmable and free form; I would compare this to games that take into account items and levels given as you progress through an area/stage or story element that coincides with each other.
Basically, there are a few core features in this game, but they need work to make them harmonize with each other to make it feel like a coherent experience.
