Just a fun little game. Great idea for a setting, easy controls, engaging, and good graphics. Well worth the time and money.

To me wasted potential is the worst thing. when i first saw the game i said this game is insane and it has a lot of potential !! i saw this game on social media and the idea shocked me, trying to survive in a cave with a team of four people i was like dayum this is it. Me and my frnds can actually enjoy this. i downloaded the game and checked the description it says shared/split screen co-o, i was like hmmm but in the description and the videos there is something else which was the multiplayer. downloaded it, made my friends download it too, later on we found out it is only shared screen co-op! there is no multiplayer untill you change the beta version of the game. anyways we changed the beta version, but the problem is that there is only one mission you can enjoy playing with your friends, i mean a friend cuz it is only 2 people in one lobby instead of four. BRUH. later on i decided to play it by myself, and disappointment kept following me as long as i kept playing this game no matter if it is solo or coop mode! issue bugs crashes were there. sadly this game came out in 2022, and now we are in 2025 which means three years have past and yet this game is still suffering. keep your money it is not worth it.
TL;DR: If the game $10 or under, it's a fair price for what you're getting. If it's above $10, I don't recommend buying it until the issues outlined below have been addressed.
I got this game for $8, and at that price, "Hidden Deep" is a fun little 2D sidescroller that, as the description states, has a lot of (at least initially) interesting themes that hearken back to Aliens, The Thing, and Half Life. The atmosphere is dark and oppressive, the guns feel weighty and punchy, the "puzzles" are just involved enough to keep me entertained, and the enemies are just varied enough to keep me excited to see something even more interesting. Unfortunately, however, the game has some pretty deep (pun not intended) issues in it's current state, and these become so obvious over the course of the single-player campaign that I recommend holding off on buying this at full price (for now). The Good: Atmosphere - The sounds, music, and lighting are all wonderful here, creating a genuinely gripping and oppressive atmosphere. Everything bangs, thumps, and squeals like it should. Enemy Variety - There are over half a dozen unique enemies, and it's not just looks - most have unique attacks, movement patterns, and threat profiles. Mechanics - For a one man project, the sheer variety of mechanics is genuinely impressive; grappling hooks, machinery, drills, and other unique ways of interacting with the environment help keep the gameplay loop from getting *too* stale. The Bad: Visual Variety - I haven't finished the game yet, but I'm about 8 hours in, and 95% of the terrain I've been staring at so far is one of two things - gray/red cave walls, and brown metal industrial corridors. The AI generated level loading screens made me think I was about to see some genuinely interesting colors and backgrounds, but no, just more brown and gray caves and corridors. I genuinely forgot that I was supposed to be at the bottom of the ocean between re-opening the game - this game DESPERATELY needs more environment variety. Enemy Variety (in practice) - While there are technically quite a few different enemies, in practice, you'll spend about 95% of the game fighting the same 2 enemies; bats, and spiders. The most interesting enemies, like the ambush zombies, show up once every few levels, if that. Less bats and spiders, more zombies please! The Plot (or lack there of) - The story feels non-existent, with levels feeling like random and disjointed fetch-quests that have little, if anything to do with each other. I don't know, maybe the ending ties it all together somehow, but the first 8 hours have left me extremely wanting for ANY explanation of what's going on. The UGLY: The linearity - For a game with environmental destruction and grappling hooks, Hidden Deep manages to be INCREDIBLY linear. EVERY level, without fail, is the exact same sequence of turn on generator, take elevator down, blast a hole in the one specific room where you're supposed to do that, and then use an engineer to do some machine puzzle. I kept hoping to find interesting and/or secret areas in out-of-the-way places, but that happened maybe *once*, which feels like incredible wasted potential. Infinite Enemy Spawners - I cannot remember the last time I played a game that managed to implement infinite enemies in a way that was actually fun, and this game fails there as well - there are MANY areas where you will encounter infinite enemy spawning pods, and these are just tedious and frustrating to deal with. Delete them, or re-work them into something actually fun. Fall Damage - I'm playing on the hardest difficulty for my first playthrough, and yet despite that, probably 90%+ of my deaths so far have been due to slipping off edges, falling off ladders, jumping in the wrong direction while grappling, and other physics-related frustrations. This is easily the worst part of the game, and I think the movement system could use a fair bit of improvement. On the whole, there is a LOT of potential here, but it's still buried under a lot of issues. I genuinely hope that the developer can sort through these things in due time, but until then, I don't recommend buying this unless it's on sale.

Absolute dogsheet experience. 10 min of playtime was actually more of 15 setting the graphics from 1920x1080 to all possible setting to get the display working correctly. and when you think you'll compromise a little to try the game out, so you playgame> begin expedition > deep exploration diff. CONTINUE BUTTON NOT SHOWING UP SO YOU'RE STUCK. F T G.

I bought this game having seen several advertisements marketing the multiplayer feature, as I was excited to play with my partner. This game was advertised as having functioning co-op all across social media When I tried to play it with my partner we were constantly met with EXCEPTION_ACCESS_VIOLATION before both of our games would completely close. Upon troubleshooting I discovered, issues like this have been present since the game's release and the dev has barely addressed them. I know the game is still in early access and development is hard, but I found the lack of any concrete solutions, as well as how frequent bigs like this seem to be, pretty discouraging. I would be willing to buy this game again, when it's capable of actually supporting multipayer.

"action & exploration sci-fi thriller" It feels like one of the free flash games you'd find on "addictinggames.com" or some shit in terms of graphics and gameplay. $25? TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS? I dont think so. In the first few level new ideas and mechanics get introduced but it feels like they only get used one at a time instead of simultaneously. "Defend against horrific alien life forms" 3 hours in and hardly any enemy variety. A fly. A spider. A zombie. A slug that poses 0 threat. A ceiling tentacle... A bigger fly. Generic real world guns and sounds. I just dont see a lot of creativity here. How can you describe it as scifi when the only scifi thing is that scanner ball. No laser guns? 3 hours in there is basically no story so far. You've just been given tasks to do. No notes, no bodies, no environmental story telling, ONE survivor that tells you nothing. I have no idea what happened besides some breach or outbreak happened. No idea how or why or who's responsible, or if I'm getting any closer to our objective of finding out the truth. I get all this is being done by one person and I'm sure its been a lot of work coding, doing the art work, sound design so, you know, good for them, but I'm sorry I don't see $25 worth of game here, honestly. Ill try to get through the rest of the campaign and update the review if I feel I need to.
