Kobold Slayer is more or less a clone of Wizardry: Proving Grounds of the Mad Overlord made in RPG Maker MV. It has a slightly differently janked system, where primary attack stats (Strength and Intelligence) matter a lot more and are not capped, and thus should be turbo-pumped at character creation, but it's generally pretty familiar to anyone who's familiar with the Wizardry series.
It would be a more frustrating game, but with the power of writing my own walkthrough and save scumming, I completed all 8 levels of the dungeon and won in 6 hours in-game time... and probably another 4-5 of writing the walkthrough. Due to the ease of save scumming, I would consider Kobold Slayer significantly easier than Wizardry 1, though it can still get you with nasty tricks on occasion. Unfortunately, it also has two bugs that break the game, including one that you'll always hit, requiring some modification of game files in order to continue.
Going to have to not recommend this one - it's the kind of oldschool RPG that doesn't appeal to that many people in the first place, and it's just not a very good one in comparison to most of the other entries in the genre, with the low price about all it has going for it. Still, it's amusing if you already own it for some reason.
