Pretty nice game! I really love the attack combs they are sick and funny as well. To much potential with a colorfull enviroment I should say that I've always looking for a type of game like this... I also love all the story and how it attaches to the chinese culture which I'm pretty fan of it.
I don't regret buying it, I took the risk of buying an expensive game (It's expensive for me cuz I don't work at all) And I enjoyed the adventure and keep enjoying it <3.
Great Game!!

<><><><><>Monkey King: Hero is Back Review<><><><><>
General:
Monkey King is a story about Sun Wukong (The Monkey King) and Jiangliu, a small monk, who by fate meet each other and end up playing pivotal roles in the lives of the other. On another level, the game tells a story of how it’s possible to change, even tho you might think that’s impossible or it’s too hard, and that with good deeds and persistence, you can achieve your dream
Based on the animation movie, the game literally feels like it comes straight from the silver screen. From the moment you finished watching the impressive opening CG to when it switches to the fight scenes, seamless and knee-deep in the action.
Gameplay:
-Action/Fighting: 50%
-Exploration: 30%
-Puzzling:20%
For the majority of the game you’ll be fighting, but there’s some diversity in that since you gain skills (magic moves) to use, and apart from your standard repetoire of moves you can also use items around you (i.e. staff, table, stones etc.), which allow you to do more and different moves in combat
Exploring will often lead to finding tons of items which can then be crafted into other stuff, it’s amazing how many items there are
Puzzling won’t take in a large part as most of the game you won’t really get stuck, but still there are some areas you need to think about. Also, some levels will reward you for solving the enemies you encounter in a more creative way, i.e. the robot creatures with the search lights can be fough but are hard and then tough, but when you manage to sneak around them you can actually take away their talisman and beat them in 1 hit
Levels:
While a lot of variety with the different worlds, some levels will be markedly more interesting than others. The first villages are really nice, the later levels feature some cool and pretty epic backdrops too, sometimes switched with some less inspiring surroundings such as this Chamber of Space and Time which is just a room where you do a lot of fights. Harbour Level is also amazing
Boss Fights:
Overal, the boss fights are prettty cool, they’re all huge and offer a bigger challenge as opposed to the rest of the game in general. Some bosses will be used more than once which is too bad, but the final boss is something to be witnessed
<><><><<><>Conclusion<><><><><>
For players who are looking for a not too challenging, not too long but very well polished, very satisfying kind of Pixar/Kungfu Panda like experience, Monkey King is your pick. The game has its high points and low points, but for the price and the amount of details in there, it’s good stuff

Surprisingly good game, especially for a Monkey King fan. About martial art aspect, Monkey King uses many moves from southern shaolin MAs like Hung Kuen, Choy Lay Fut, etc... that's what i like most, along with the traditonal Chinese atmosphere. I like how the Monkey King had to start with some basic fighting techniques at the beginning and raise his abilities through the game. Hilarious cartoonish style is a big plus, too, will recommend it to my kid. Of course it's not the best game, but people have different tastes, you should give it a try if you are a fan of Monkey King and looking for some relaxation !

I really really had a lot to look forward to for this game. Unfortunately, it is a great great disappointment. I grew up with the story. Monkey represents most, if not all, young generation. Fearless, skilled, clever, wants to be free to do what one wishes to do at the spur of moment. But monkey knows that he himself has a good heart. So, as a result, Monkey, or rather I didn't like to follow the tradition so to speak. Ok, I didn't have monsters to fight against. But imagining being Monkey, woosh, fly here, flew there. Done this, done that. That really made the heart lightened and a smile showed on the face. So, you can see. When the first monster, or should I say, a blob wobbling to snatch the little kid, WTS is the first thing came to my mind. The combat system is not brilliant, it is OK, well, if 50% is pass mark, I will give it 50% and I am being kind here.
I haven't read the original test of Journey to the West but I knew quite sure there was no kid in it. As most people may not know. The Chinese Communist Party did NOT allow any literature - fiction or writing on ghost or spirit kind. That is why if you search the records, there is absolutely no ghost film made in China when hundreds of them were made in Hong Kong. I didn't know when they have relaxed the law and started to allow films or rather story based on ghosts, spirits, gods and goddesses. But we all know the reason... wink wink $$$.
Sorry, I digressed. As you can see, I finished the game, including the 1st DLC within 22 hours of game playing time. For a full priced game, this is far far far too short. And as you may have read already, the bad guys or the monsters, are repeated with "different skins". So, the green blob will later appear as blue, or purple or red with bit of fire showing on the skin, etc.. I don't want to give out too many spoilers. But just take my words for it, you won't miss out on collectable as you can go back via "Memories" to look for them. So, the game actually won't take 22 hours to finish as I went back to "Memories" and killed all the monsters, again, and again. And unlike other game where if your level is too high in comparison to the monster, the experience points gained would be reduce, here, it stays unchanged. So, I was fully upgraded about 15 or 16 hours into the game, about 3/4 way through the story. And I had no idea what most of the stuff collected are for, apart from the healing potions of course. That is almost universal. Every combat game has these installed. Those spells stuff, what are they for? I used a couple and didn't notice any effect. So, I guess they are there just for the reason for the achievements.
Another thing, the min. requirement included Win 7 but the recommended is Win 10 64 bit. Is that why in the cut scene, the characters are invisible? I mean I played through the DLC with ALL the cutscenes in pitch black, just subtitles. I eventually just skipped them all and then the fight scene appeared. When that's finished, back to black screen with subtitle again! I was a sucker paying the full price for this game. It is an OK game if it is on reduced price, like £3.99, not £39.99. I prepaid for it because I had read that the animation film made tons of money in China. By the way, what the f**k Piggy is there for in this story. He had absolutely no function in the story at all, not even a sidekick. They could have given more roles for the kid.
By they way, have anyone read all the names at the end? Over 90% is Japanese if you take away, the German team, the Spanish team. Just curious. Thought this is a Chinese Game. There are some Chinese members but the number of them, no way they could produce this game.
This game is a very linear game. At 2019, this game is more suitable for under 10. So, yeah, I won't recommend this game to 99% of you guys. Well, at least not now. Wait till it is reduced to below 10 euro.

This game is for someone who wants to play a Monkey King adventure.
There is a small issue with the language not taking into account what you have configured from Steam, so once you start the game for the first time, it will be in Chinese, so you will need to select the second option in the main menu, and then the fifth option, to change the language.
The gameplay is really like playing an old Play Station One game, with some fights, 3D cutscenes, storyboard cutscenes, some times it is only about walking and talking, and it has loading screens to go in and out of buildings, etc.
I enjoy the game because I wanted to play a Monkey King adventure, but the gameplay can be disappointing to many players.
Buy at your own risk.
DONT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS GAME
-There is only a total of 10 type of enemy(boss included), only with slight variation in colour and health bar. And if you count all the NPCs, you might get to 20.
-Tons of loading screens and black screens that bring you right back to Elder Scroll. Damn monkey needs 2 black screen to climb a ladder and 3 to get down . I mean man are we really in 2019? not even a actual climbing animation?
-Arguably poor ai, arguably repetitive enemy type, arguably poor and repetitive texture and model.
-A total of less than 10 hours of gameplay for a single player game that cost you 40$? Half the price of 2077 or Sekrio? Besides, the game pretty much sums up the whole movie it was based on, so dont expect any DLC to add new content.
-There is a major Bug that could cause your character to vanish from thin air when hit by a enemy, the game would freeze can you cannot do any shit other than change your skin(wich would sort of reboot the game) or to exit and restart all over.
sidenote: lock at 30fps on pc.
There is simply NOT ENOUGHT CONTENT in this game , makes you fell like you are playing a crappy EA version of a INDIE game. JUST STOP if you still have sanity.
seriously not worth the price, when you can buy games like Elder Scroll 5 or Darksouls 123.
Edit: I saw a streamer beating this game and unlock almost all achievement in 7 hours without skiping animation....so in fact this game barely has 10hour of gameplay....
