Its is a [strike]fun but[/strike] flawed 4v1 multiplayer spin-off bundled and shoved up you @$$ with RE3R. With balance issues, lack of support and so many better multiplayer games out there, this one feels like a waste of time at best.
Even die-hard Resident Evil fans might want to skip it.
Literally i love this game! It would be PERFECT if you added more maps from random Resident Evil games like RE8. I also hope there will be more players so we don't have to wait too long!

A Dead By Daylight with Resident Evil skins. Nothing more than that, and I think any further explanation is useless. It's a no for me.

Asymmetric 4 vs 1 RE style. The game is great and it does it just as good as Friday The 13th the game which I wish was still playable but that game ended up with tons of legal battles which forced content to be pulled and led to the game getting axed. Anyway, this game, is awesome just because it's Resident Evil

Capcom’s Resident Evil: Resistance set out to be something daring: an asymmetrical 4v1 multiplayer experience set in the Resident Evil universe. Released alongside the Resident Evil 3 remake in 2020, it attempted to translate survival horror into a competitive, fast-paced, and unpredictable online format. While its ambition is undeniable, Resistance ultimately feels like an uneven experiment—occasionally tense and clever, but often chaotic and unbalanced. The core idea is compelling: four Survivors must work together to escape a series of deadly arenas filled with traps, puzzles, and creatures, all while a fifth player, the Mastermind, tries to stop them. Survivors each have unique abilities—ranging from hacking cameras to melee combat boosts—while Masterminds like Annette Birkin, Alex Wesker, and even Ozwell Spencer can deploy zombies, turrets, and deadly bioweapons to delay or destroy the team. It’s Resident Evil meets Dead by Daylight, but with a strategic twist: the Mastermind plays from a top-down perspective, placing enemies and controlling the battlefield in real-time, like a dungeon master with a grudge. In practice, Resistance is a mixed bag. When a match flows well, it can be tense, fast, and incredibly fun. Survivors scrambling to solve puzzles under pressure while a player-controlled Mr. X stalks them through corridors? Genuinely thrilling. But this balance is fragile. Coordination among survivors is essential, yet random matchmaking rarely provides it. On the flip side, a skilled Mastermind can easily dominate a disorganized team, turning the match into a frustrating slog. Conversely, if survivors speedrun the objectives, the Mastermind may barely get a chance to build tension. The result is a game that often feels either too easy or too punishing, with few matches landing in the sweet spot. The controls, especially for survivors, are serviceable but feel a bit clunky, with stiff animations and occasional input lag—noticeable issues in a game that demands quick reactions. The camera system for Masterminds is innovative but can be disorienting, especially for new players trying to multitask under pressure. Built in the RE Engine, Resistance looks solid. The environments are dark and grimy, filled with nods to Resident Evil lore, and the character models are decently detailed. Sound design plays its part well—growls, footsteps, and alarms all help keep tension high, especially when you're low on ammo and time. However, because the maps are reused frequently and the environments lack much variation, the game starts to feel visually stale after only a few hours. At launch, Resident Evil: Resistance struggled with balance issues and lacked long-term content support. While Capcom did release updates and additional Masterminds (like Nicholai Ginovaef), the game never built a strong, sustained community. Without a healthy player base or robust matchmaking, queue times and uneven matches became an issue over time. Resident Evil: Resistance deserves credit for trying something new. It’s a creative, often chaotic spin on the franchise that works best in short bursts or with a coordinated group of friends. But its steep learning curve, balance problems, and limited replay value make it hard to recommend as a lasting experience. Fun in concept, flawed in execution. Resistance is an interesting side experiment that fans may enjoy for its novelty—but ultimately, it’s a bite-sized distraction rather than a full course. Rating: 5/10
