The lesser evil against the greater ...
A good shooter with simple RPG mechanics ... Played on the highest difficulty setting ... No, you won't scare a veteran of Duke Nukem and Doom ... :}

☉ Shooting is a pleasure, and it is very important ...
☉ The arenas are simple, not too tangled, some can be run through in a couple of minutes, which is a definite plus for me...
☉ I liked the RPG elements and weapon upgrades ...
☉ The monsters are similar in terms of mechanics, but their designs are different and interesting, so they don't get boring ...

☽ I was thrown out of the texture twice, so I had to replay the level ...
☽ The last levels were a bit annoying because of the possibility of falling into lava ...
☽ The spells are interesting, but I didn't feel like testing this build...

My last achievement is confusing and doesn't reflect the updated difficulties, felt like a major waste of time finishing on hardcore and not getting the "evil nightmare - COMPLETE THE GAME ON HARDCORE DIFFICULTY achievement."

Very challenging especially the single life mode, where you need to keep moving and shooting to stay alive. Can try multiple builds. The lava pit instant death at the final chapter may be unfair though, one wrong move will scrap hours of progress, especially when fast movement is often necessary.

First time playing a game from that genre and I have to say that it made me wanna play more games like this. Its quick, fun and simple enough for any player to just run and gun around. Levels are well made and there are many options spell and gun wise. The story is a nice touch as well.
I d really love to see a quick save option because sometimes you can die by mistakes and you have to rerun the entire level from the beginning.

Quality boomer shooter and love that levels do not overstay their welcome.

A middle of the road boomer shooter that, while not bad, does not do much to stand out. I appreciate the artwork, the level up system, and the fact a melee build is a viable option even on the harder difficulty setting. It's a pretty mediocre experience overall, but I would still recommend it if it's on sale.

If you are a controller player be warned, this game is almost unplayable due to weapon switching delay. It doesn't matter if you use bumpers or d-pad to cycle weapons, you'll have to press either 3 or 4 times before it will register. It works like it should around 60% of the time and the other 40% it just won't work until you spam the button. This is a known issue, I googled it to see if maybe it was just me but there are many threads addressing this. Now that Project Warlock 2 is out, it will never be fixed either. I do not recommend to anyone who uses controller.

This FPS has personality in spades, but its technical issues and frustrating design choices hold it back from being a must-play. The game is un-optimized for a controller; my character constantly drifts to the right, and input lag made crucial movements impossible. I would start a level with NO weapon equipped and then the controller would not recognize any command to switch weapons or open the weapon wheel. This is a death sentence in a fast-paced shooter. The hit boxes are another major issue—I felt like my character was three times the size of every enemy, leading to frequent and frustrating deaths that felt completely unearned. While the charming personality might draw you in, the frustrating controls and a baffling decision to prevent saving on the fly on a single player game make this a difficult game to recommend.

It was pretty good at times, plenty of visual glitches and just a bad time, one time i was chased by a enemy's second form that was stuck underground, i fell underground by walking backwards into some enemy.
The weapons were good to use but just so many go unused because i didn't really see why i would change my shotgun and uzi combo and the other stuff, rarely did i have a reason to use the sword or flame thrower or whatever else.
You should give it a try but don't forget about the visual and mechanical glitches sometimes i just couldn't fire my double-barrel shotgun

Great gameplay at it's core, a few design decisions I dont appreciate, like the spells having to be rebought everytime and no proper new game plus, mediocre music and WAY too many bugs for a game this late in its life cycle ESPECIALLY conisdering they already released a sequel. Game has a ton of collision issues, AI pathfinding troubles and clipping problems, cant tell you how many times I glitched through the floor and lost. What really got me the wrong way is when they were making fun off the games they copied, when in fact they basically did everything worse and less competent than those originals.
