The game reminds me a bit of Nuclear Throne.
It has a few roguelike and RPG elements thrown in (so don't expect a full fledged RPG!).
What I personally like the most so far is the seemingly endless weapon combinations and the boost you feel after upgrading in the Tech Tree - this really makes a difference in the gameplay experience.
You should definitely give this game a shot, it is worth your time and money!
Cheers!

As someone who isn't a great fan of roguelikes this game is incredibly addicting. Not easy and not forgiving, I didn't really stomp through the first world like nothing, you have get used to it and adjust a lot since you don't always have the weapon you want.
It took me a while to reach the first boss but after I beat it I have the feeling I will sink so many hours in this.

WoodPunk is a retro shooter roguelike and it is a ton of fun. It feels like a really old school game that looks super crisp and was polished two decades ahead of its time. The artstyle is super cool and the animations for all the enemys look great, I especially love the little sprite shadows when you burn them to death.
Each world has to be completed in one life, die and you start that world over. But you keep any scrap you have earned, you can spend the scrap on new tech for your random weapons, health, and more. Each round you start with a random combo of gun and melee weapon and you can instruct your robot buddy to craft you other ones in the middle of battle.
In addition to that you also unlock and wear various suits that each have diffirent properties and powers. You are like a 13th century Tony Stark. The game also supports local co-op where a buddy controls the robot. The game is challenging, the boss battles are great and even if you managed to beat every world, and unlock every suit. There is an endless survival mode where you see how many waves you can live through.

It's about damn time one of these newfangled roguelite twin-stick games brought back the thrill of fighting swarms of enemies... And I don't mean densely packed napping targets. This is some Smash TV, everything is coming for you shit.

Competently made, but it crashes and freezes a lot, even just Quitting causing a freeze. But during gameplay, I found no obvious bugs.
This game didn't hook me... the arenas are all the same, just a square space to run around in with random boxes and trees. Enemies spawn in and you kill them. Gets repetitive extremely quickly. I don't connect emotionally to the gameplay mechanism of the droid following you around and crafting things - feels like a gimmick that doesn't really satisfy the player.
Get it on sale if you must, but you could pass this and really miss nothing in the landscape of twin-stick shooters or roguelites.

I'm having a lot of fun with this game. It's simple but a fun top-down shooter.
I like the randomness of the weapons a lot. The number of parts are quite limited but they all work in a fully different way with their own upsides and downsides.
A lot of games have a system where the weapons you drop will have a couple of traits to make them unique but... A vast majority of these traits will slightly change the stats and only be useful to min-max your weapon. The won't change the gameplay at all.
While it is on a much smaller scale, Woodpunk's system is a better execution of the same idea. Every combination you find will function differently and you have to choose which on works the best for you, not just which has the highest dps. I would love to see someone expand on a system like this. I would also have enjoyed something similar for the melee weapons.
Anyway, the game is very entertaining if you embrace the randomness of the drops and enjoy shooting through waves of simple AIs.

This game's some achievements can't be obtained without edit your save.
Recommend it because this game is fun until you go through whole story line and survive like 20 rounds in survive mode. But further gameplay is not fun anymore.

Two things that make the game a pain to play for me:
1. When you change weapons its not instant, it feels weird. Took way too much dmg cause of this weapon changing downtime.
2. Its limited to 60 FPS
Maybe its intended to be like that, but its just a pain man.

lovely crafted game. Super easy to get into, but difficult enough so it's still fun.
Also am really happy about the co-op feature. Even though it is asymetrical co-op, I'm really glad that the developers implemented this feature! If the trailer looks interesting to you and you are looking for a good time, give this game a chance.

- Most of the new weapons, in spite of the fact that you have to pay for them, are even worse than the original one (ex: hammer);
- Most weapons will work against you;
- Most of the upgrades don't help (ex: ice and fire bullets);
- If you find a good weapon, you will only use it in one stage;
- The mouse pointer doens't work correctly;
- Some bugs;
- Too expensive for the content in question.
