It has potential in the ambiance to be something good. You'll have that sense of dread or fear as you walk around trying to piece everything together. Unfortunately, piecing it all together is where it fails. You will find several pictures and get achievements for them but they give you no clue how they tie into the story. The actual descriptions outside of the game in your list of achievements tells you more about what they actually are and that is bad storytelling. I finished the game with all achievements and even found a cell phone with a text message revealing a little bit of info but there was barely anything there to really tell you a good story about what really happened. When looking for the meat of the game there are many empty rooms throughout and multiple boxes to pick up and toss which reveal nothing hidden beneath them. The game overall just felt like an empty cannoli. It looks like you are in for something good but once you bite in the filling is missing.

Certainly not the best horror game out there the sound effects are very poor quality.
I would only recommend this on a sale.

Pros : - Believe it or not the atmosphere is quite scary
- Graphics arent painfull to look at
- Can be finished in one sitting easily
- There is some effort behind it
Cons : - The "caretaker" isnt that scary after you get caught for the first time
- fragments of some story telling are nowhere to be find, other then title screen after you started the game
- 1 hour of gameplay just isnt much for 7 euro
- Stealth mechanics just arent working very well
- Some truely cheap jumpscares (loud noise made by nothing and such)
- No conclusion to the game
- movement feels cluncy
Overall : For this price point (7 euros) its just not worth it, maybe if u wait for some steam sale, otherwise just save your money

It is a very limited game in its sections, it does not stand out in any, it is simple and bland, look for keys, avoid the monster without charisma and finish the game.
The backstory seems interesting but it doesn't unfold, maybe with more work something good could have been done.
The game is not worth more than 3 euros.

This game is definitely a walking simulator with no ability to fight the monster. The best thing to do is to run as much as possible and collect the objective items to progress forward. The achievements can be completed 100% on the first play through, but most people will miss one or two along the way. All achievements are easy and require little to no skill to achieve. This game does have some creepy moments and sinister environments with great detail, but the part it lacks most is a solid story line. Most the time you are just exploring and going from one place to another by following the labels on the map. It tells you everything you need to do in the beginning, but for some people this can be confusing or easily forgettable. Rate 4/10 because there was no way to tell where the items were because they were not highlighted with a luminescent glow. The Caretaker is the killer and once he grabs you there is no escape. You will spawn at the nearest checkpoint which is very close. Do not buy this game at face value, but get it on sale if you want the value of playing a game for a half hour to an hour. There were a few times where I got scared, but I am a rock when it comes to horror games!

I bought this game to play for a Halloween video on a whim. My previous idea crashed after my power went out and I had to make a backup on the fly when it came back. I bought this on sale for about 7 bucks and played for roughly an hour.
Pros:
The first half of this I found genuinely spooky. It was offputting and had just enough good audio to get me a riled up. The ambiance was there and it was a decent spooker overall. Although there isn't really a HUD or indicator of what to do, I found myself surprisingly finding my way around correctly due to some decent direction.
Cons:
Once the actual enemy showed up, I wasn't particularly frightened anymore. Some things just flatout don't make sense,
like going deaf from falling ten feet.
If you're not paying attention I can easily see someone getting lost or missing something, and the lack of direction will make itself very apparent.
Overall I enjoyed it, but I also came in to it expecting nothing. You'll get roughly an hour out of it, so gauge how much you're willing to pay for a game off of that. It certainly isn't anything amazing, but I've played a lot of utter trash and this certainly is a step above the rest.

I gave this game a fair chance ...
Sadly , after only 20 minutes of playtime I know what this will be. Another run of the mill "horror"-game to add to the list. The movement is so cluncky I got motion sickness from it. I mean what the F....
The rest is your standard fare, collect keys, items and have a bad guy chasing you ...
Nah, not recommended.

I really wanted to like this game, but I just can't recommend it. The atmosphere, sound design, & overall ambience give the game a very creepy vibe. However, it starts to wear off once you encounter the enemy. I'll admit the first encounter is a little unnerving. Graphics are pretty good, especially the lighting from your flashlight.
Caretaker felt like playing an eight dollar tech demo. It feels more like a conceptual idea, rather than a coherent experience. That goes for the story as well, or lack thereof.
There's a lot of non objective items to pick up & look at in the game, but serve no purpose other than a couple attempted jump scares, and an achievement. You'll encounter many empty rooms while moving about the map. The game could've really benefited from better objective direction towards the end of the game. It felt like a chore to finish.
What frustrated me the most in the game is every time the enemy attacked, your character literally froze in place. You can't run away at that point. It's like being stuck in concrete. Basically wait to be killed & restart the checkpoint. There's also no clear directive on defeating him. Basically draw him out of his safe space.
Per the credits Caretaker was developed by one person. It's definitely more than I could ever accomplish, so cheers to that. That being said Caretaker is frustrating to play. You can tell the game strives to be more, but is ultimately held back.
