A port of an existing and well liked boardgame.
Playing this was my first experience of the game, so I started blind, albeit I've played (and love) Carcassone so I understand some of the principles.
If you're coming to this blind and you play the tutorial, you are in for a treat as it is hosted by not one but 2 Hollywood Stars!
(not)Sean Bean and (not)Christopher Lloyd will 'talk' you through some of the basics of the game with coherence of a blindfolded drunk reading a bad script.
Did I say bad script - it's really bad.
There is even some attempt at making the token dialogue idiosyncratically characterised.
Did I say voice-over artists? No I didn't. It's just text dialogue. And it's forking awful.
Annoyed?
You will be, once the banter between notBean and notLloyd starts and all you want to do is learn the game.
But you'll just about squeeze through the tutorial and learn the basic principles of what is actually an enjoyable game.
The best thing I can say about the (digital) game is that it introduced me to the actual boardgame, which we now have and play.
The digital adaptation however, is about as polished as a poop.
It looks awful, the space on the screen is not used wisely, the graphics, fonts, menu, UI and the general feel is that of a game written for MSDOS 3.1. And not done well.
It's essentially a digital 'toilet pluger' version of the game - Functional - and that's about it.
There's a link (in one of the in-game menus) to take you to a YewTube video tutorial of how to play the game.
And it's the board game rather than the digital version. Bizarre. Is it a joke? I have no idea.
Thumbs up for Isle of Skye Boardgame.
Thumbs down for the Digital port.
