Was fun at first, now seemingly abandoned several months ago. Sad face. Edit as of 3/11/22: Still abandoned

This game is amazing for those of us that like to adventure without any direction and dive straight into the looting and killing. There doesnt seem to be a bunch of content at the moment. There are 2 bosses and a handful of different enemies. I have built a ship and traveled to the marshes!! I was so excited, but I found there was no monsters and no boss even though there are already places for both. I was deeply saddened. However, I know that this means that in the feature there will be more content to fill in those gaps. I wish the was a working discord for this game. If there is I havent found one yet. I would deeply like to be part of a testing community to experiance new content before being released to the public. Overall this game is amazing and I only have 7 hours but im LVL 25 with full gaurdian armor, a ship, and 3 spells. I shall continue my amazing advanture in this fun filled game.

Ah so unfortunate as I know i would really enjoy this game given the chance. Performance issues made it unplayable, huge FPS drops and rubber banding. I would be walking for 10 seconds then be put back to where I was. Then it would indefinitely loop to those two positions until i quit the game and reloaded. This happened three times before my patience ran out. Running on a pretty decent rig so this definitely shouldn't be happening. Will keep an eye on it and if there are enhancements going forward, might pick it up again Edit: After coming back a month later its clear the devs have worked hard on getting this up to scratch. Have had no issues at all, content is really fun and the players are all really helpful. Would definitely recommend!

A simple game, but as a great man once said: K.I.S.S. - keep it simple stupid. Great music, very soothing game, great community (so far), gameplay is simple, devs are actively updating/fixing the game with weekly or bi-monthly patches. Give this one a shot, I'm addicted. Please help.

A very simple game. The music is on-board with a Runescape vibe. The artwork and how it plays gives off a 90s/early 2000s game aesthetic. Creator is incredibly friendly and responsive not on the BrawlQuest Discord, but within the Steam Reviews. The team is very small but they manage to get a lot done within weeks. Hell, if you want to know a crazy fact: The guy who composes the music for the game made the music on a 3DS... What a Chad. Only problem I do have with the game is the price, which I don't mind paying £9.29 to support small content and game creators, however, this price may put off future players from playing. Other than that, I would rate the game a mild to strong 8 out of 10. There is still room for improvement, but: 1) This game is in Early Access 2) As previously stated, BrawlQuest has a small team, which off the top of my head consists of about 4 people.

Regarding early access and the state of the game: This game is (and feels) like early access - to play right now is to understandably purchase the game knowing full well that it is still being very actively developed and, with every update (which happens often) things will be fixed and new things will be broken. It can be frustrating sometimes when the game crashes, but the devs are active and snuff out the problems as they are identified. Balancing is very much underway as well, so expect changes to the core gameplay mechanics like respawn timers, damage modifiers, etc. which are all very fluid currently. Servers are UK based, so expect some latency if playing from outside of Europe. The gameplay: The content that currently exists is entertaining and a fun grinder game. Since purchasing the game a few days ago, there have already been multiple content updates adding new armors, dungeons, bosses, and a holiday event. It is clear that the devs envision a group-based experience with regard to boss fights, but it can be difficult right now to get multiple players together due to low population, but that is to be expected for a brand-new indie title. With more players it shouldn't be an issue, and honestly, all of the content is currently soloable if you max out your gear. The core gameplay loop is to level to the cap (currently 30), reset your character to level 1 which allows you to put a stat-increasing enchant on one piece of equipment, then repeat. On each journey to 30 you can repeat the quests again if you want or just grind (they're not mandatory). The quests are fairly minimal right now, most of your xp comes from kills. You keep all of your equipment after a 'reset' so once you've obtained an item once, you have it forever. Player housing/building is undergoing a revamp currently so I won't talk about it now. Crafting is pretty simplistic. Collect the materials and click craft, item in your inventory. Nothing groundbreaking, but it's an expected system in an mmo so that box is checked. The UI is clean but has some bugs (related to scaling the GUI) and could benefit from some more tooltips and fewer automatically expanding/collapsing flyout panels. The controls are mostly keyboard 8-direction movement/attack. The mouse to attack feels unreliable, but that might be due to my latency, playing from outside of Europe. The game currently suffers from a lack of skills, so outside of 5-6 "spells" you're mainly just going to be using auto attacks for melee or ranged staff casts with a caster build. All told, I'm enjoying the game a lot, but it is clear that it is still in development. For the price it's a great buy just to see the content that is there, and come back after new features are added later too. Everyone on the discord is helpful, and the devs are responsive. If you're expecting a polished, bug-free, AAA experience though, save yourself the hassle and give this one a wait.

Brilliant game that you can just get lost in. I've already put a good few hours in since launch and will put many more. Everything about the game is satisfying from mining ores to killing bosses. Cannot recommend this game enough to anyone that is looking to buy a new game!

Amazing game with expansive map. Highly recommended. The game strikes a fantastic balance between difficulty and playability. If you liked Runescape you will love this. There is a vast array of items in this game both to collect and smith with. Levelling up is a truly satisfying feeling and the sound effects, combined with the music and detailed spaces make for an impressively immersive experience. As you level up your character you will find more and more areas of the map with new enemies and quests. Moreover, the characters are well done and quite funny at times. The chat feature works well and was fun talking with other players. This game also lends itself well to playing with others when fighting. It is encouraged as the health of some of the NPC enemies gets quite high. Sometimes I thought the quests could be more elaborate and extensive, however I'm sure this will come with updates. The soundtrack is perfect with a diverse array of instrumentation that fit each of the areas of the game. Developers are keen for feedback and work hard to update regularly. Overall, look no further for your next gaming experience.

Brawlquest is a thoroughly enjoyable top-down 2d graphic RPG game. Most definitely suited to gaming veterans who would have played similar style games many years ago but would also be a great introduction to younger gamers to this genre. WASD character movement and 8 directional combat manoeuvres via the cursor keys. Inventory is seemingly endless and I discovered no limitations of stack size or weight etc. Spells, abilities & consumables are activated via numeral keys once the hotbar is populated. Selecting items/spells to place on the hotbar is a simple press of the keypad number whilst holding the mouse cursor over said item/spell. The combat is automatic once started and consists of 8 directional attrition to the intended target. Combat is initiated either by the cursor keys or by hostile mobs attacking you. Holding 2 directional keys down at same time will allow for diagonal attacks. During combat the hotbar selections prepared by the player can be selected to add heals, shields, AoE etc to the combat mechanics. Yes the combat is clunky but at the same time still feels satisfying and responsive enough to give you just enough time to bail out if needed. No keyboard finger gymnastics will be required for this game but wise choices on the hotbar spells/items setup will be a key factor in surviving or reviving at the nearest gravestone. There is crafting albeit minimal at present and the gathering of components is not as grindy as many other games but just enough to get a sense of reward for the effort involved. Gathering mats is definitely better with other players as the damage to the node is shared by all but everyone still gets the same amount of mats but saving so much time. The artwork graphically is very reminiscent of the isometric game RPGMO but the similarities end there. One of the first things that caught my attention is the superb music score for this game. Surprisingly very good and I normally turn the default volume for game music down but in Brawlquest I was happy to listen to it all the time as it really does add to the atmosphere and game setting. For such an early access game of this genre I was pleased to see several people online each time I entered the game during my 10 hours spent on it over the weekend. The community I encountered were polite and mature. They were most certainly helpful. No toxicity is a blessing in todays games. There is a chat window that scrolls when anyone enters text. I did not find this intrusive at all in the game due to the good positioning of it. I experienced just 1 crash when handing in a quest but upon rejoining game I had the reward and no progress was lost. There was a problem yesterday with spiders not dropping mats that are essential for early crafting items but the dev once informed of the issue resolved it very quickly within a few hours. I managed to achieve the current max level for this phase of EA and I also managed to build a Pirate ship enabling me to be able to sail along the coastline of previously inaccessible areas and I discovered some new 'areas' currently unpopulated with mobs/npc's and will no doubt be activated in future updates. The Devs have many social media feeds related to this game and I was invited to join a discord that has a feed dedicated to this games development. From all that I saw in that channel and from my enjoyable time ingame I predict that this game has a lot of potential and far more to give than is currently available. In the past I have refunded games that were far more advanced in development than this but Brawlquest whilst currently limited in content has a great future ahead and I am certain will keep me entertained whenever I drop into game so I am more than happy to have paid the full price well in advance and help to fund the progress of this great game. TL/DR : I give this game a big thumbs up and will return to it often as it is updated. It could be described as a niche game...but I like this niche. ═════════════════════════════════════════════ To see more of my reviews please select follow at : https://store.steampowered.com/curator/39887864-3-Month-Heroes
