I like this game. it's not anything fancy, but I dunno, it just feels pretty good. I like the trials/challenges, I think the portrait art is great, it plays pretty quick and is balanced pretty well, I dunno, it's solid. And if you have a super old 2009 pc that's below minimum spec, you can drop the settings to low and it'll still run fine. It's not pretty, but at least it works.

Arika are one of the goats of the 90s arcade scene, and low-key behind a lot more fighting games in the long run than you know.
Working directly from their formula in the Street Fighter EX series and Fighting Layer, EX Layer offers an immediate, flowing combo system with character variety and Terrence Bogard. Gougi is... an interesting system that they've made efforts to balance over time. Rollback netcode holds up nicely.
