Graphically, game looks great. Very arcade style game with lots of flying and fighting. I'm not familiar with the Dragon Ball Z anime, so could not really get into this too much. In the few hours I've played, I would still say this is worth a pickup even if it's an older game and newer versions are coming soon. If you are a Dragon Ball Z fan, this would definitely be something worth picking up. If you are not familiar with the series, then maybe getting this for all the side quests and exploration aspects would make it worth picking up.

i absolutely had a blast playing this game, even the dlc's i dont really care that people say something aint worth it, for me it was a really amazing experience, an actual game i actually loved playing this throughout the main story, dlcs had a lot of fun to be honest, even though it took me a while to realise how you do a ''BREAK'' but otherwise i really really enjoyed this game, i hope this game does not stop getting updated, anyway had a fun, kudos to you devs, you made a beautiful game, really you did, so either way i want to thank you devs for making me enjoy the game as much as i did because i will cherish this game forever, my pfp is from the game too since i liked it- no i felt abusrd amount of happiness durning playing this, welp this is my review, take care anyone, and for anyone who wants to buy this game, dont judge a game by reviews, judge it yourself :)

Its a good dragon ball game, the best open world so far. It lacks a lot in fighting game-play sadly I would say its even worse than xenoverse. If you want to explore the world of dragon ball and its characters, its great. Cut scenes mid and out fights are great in general. Side missions sometimes can be repetitive with you fighting the same enemies over and over. Censorship throughout the story is outrageous, the only thing got me really upset. And the saving system being disadvantage and unpractical. But over all a 6/10. Thank U Toriyama RIP

Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is the ultimate love letter to DBZ fans, offering an open-world RPG experience that lets you relive Goku’s legendary journey. From epic battles to heartwarming side quests, the game does a fantastic job of capturing the essence of the anime.
The combat is flashy and fun, though it can become repetitive over time. Exploring the DBZ world, training, fishing, and interacting with iconic characters add depth to the experience. However, some side content can feel like filler, and the open world isn’t as lively as it could be.
Pros:
✅ Faithful retelling of the DBZ saga with stunning cutscenes
✅ Satisfying combat and character progression
✅ Plenty of side activities and RPG elements
Cons:
❌ Combat can feel repetitive after a while
❌ Open-world exploration is a bit shallow
Final Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐☆ (4/5)
Dragon Ball Z: Kakarot is a must-play for fans who want to experience the DBZ story in an interactive way. While not perfect, it’s a nostalgic and enjoyable adventure! 🎮🔥

First thing to say is that I am a die-hard Dragonball fan. I've played the vast majority of the games and know the series backwards and forwards, inside and out. If you are a fan of the series and have played games based on the series before, such as the Budokai or Xenoverse, this game will show you nothing you haven't seen before. However, if you haven't played those games to death this is a perfect entry point for anyone who has interest in the series but either found the length of the series daunting or didn't play the games mentioned.
The visuals are beautiful, the gameplay is good enough to keep you coming back and feeling the progression of strength. But the selling point is absolutely the reimagined cutscenes which are rendered beautifully. I am not overly fond of the grindy RPG mechanics in a Dragonball game but that's simply the game by design. Numbers numbers numbers. At the end of the day, though this is THE Dragonball Z: The Anime game that fans spent decades waiting for.

I first played this game when it was released in 2020 and recently returned to experience the DLC content I had missed. While I love the game overall, the leveling system is a major downside. There's a frustrating gap between the main game and DLCs (especially 1 and 2), which makes the grind tedious—one of the reasons I stopped playing originally. This time around, I powered through by putting on a YouTube video and grinding levels to enjoy the content. Despite that, it’s still a 10/10 for me, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone wanting to experience the Dragon Ball story in an open-world format!

All around amazing DBZ game.
If you like Legacy of Goku 2 or Buus Fury on GBA, you'll love this 3d iteration.
So much love is poured into this game, and you feel every ounce of it. The story bleeds the classic manga in the cutscenes, and often references side-stories even the late-great Toriyama forgot.
Gameplay is simple but addicing. If you've played Xenoverse, its somewhat similar to that, but with a one button for melee, and one button for ki, mix up, with a third being charge, and the fourth being Z-Vanish, for a more simple set up.
Sounds boring but winds up working well, especially against hard when you have to learn to dodge or block certain moves.
As an RPG, not many choices are there, and dont expect to make a custom character. And also, for a game labelled Kakarot...you play him as much as you would expect through the Saiyan to Buu saga...which is when he's alive.
But you get about 5-6 others to level up (Gohan, Piccolo, Vegeta, Gotenks, Trunks...at one point Krillin, but that doesnt stay), and play as in free roam depending on the saga. But thats just characters you play as. There are over a dozen support characters that although you can play as, can free roam with you in the world, and hang out and fight with you. All with their own support skills you can change and upgrade.
Overall, its a 6/10 for me as just a game, but a 9/10 as DB fan.
Only perchased the 23rd Tenkaichi Budokai as DLC, and I would say thats also worth it, though it does get rushed in some cutscenes and parts.
I would get that on sale, and kinda recommend that overall for the most part on this game. As positive as I've been in the review, I dont think its worth how much they are charging full price.
Get it on sale (or at least the DLC).
Otherwise, its a simple 6/10 (lot of repitition if not a fan of the universe) as a game fan and a 9/10 as a Dragon-Ball fan. Worth it if you want to rexperience the DB universe in a different way.
