While yes this game isn't getting anymore updates, it is still a really fun game. Yes voices of the Void has more content and is currently being worked on, but this game has a superior atmosphere in my opinion. for 20 bucks it's well worth the price as it's nice to get lost in the flow of hunting signals down.

Read 3 fan-made guides on how to play before jumping in but still had issue getting a full signal download after 4hrs of game time. I wish there were more tutorials in-game to help the player figure things out.

Getting into this game wasn't easy. It drops you straight into gameplay with no tutorial or explanation how anything works. You have a manual on how the game works, but the explanation are vague and lacking, so without an external guide it's hard to get a grasp of. I loved the gameplay loop, but hate how the story progression works. The only way to figure out what's going on is to receive story related signals which only generate with a 10% chance. There are 118 story signals and on top of a small chance of receiving them they can also be duplicates. It'll take hundreds of hours to find them all. Modules system also sucks, because there's like 10 modules, each module has 30 lvls and you can only upgrade them by finding them with a small chance through signal analyzing or BOINC, which would also take a couple hundred hours. The game has several small easter eggs and one large one. I wouldn't recommend playing the Area Storm mode before figuring out the main game's easter eggs due to spoilers. I love the inclusiong of a radio and a VHS player in the game which allow you to listen to real radio stations live and play MP4 files from your computer while searching for signals. Worst of all, I don't think even if you find all story related signals you'll get any sort of reward. It's very unfortunate that the game's development was abandoned, but I have a suspicion the developer passed away from COVID and we'll never see it finished. I enjoyed the gameplay loop, but the lack of a final goal to incentivies you can easily put people off from playing this. 6/10

Honestly, I think its a good idea for a game. It may not have the best graphics and does get boring at times. but, the idea of moving gigantic arrays to be able to listen to sounds from space just seems like a cool way to do a game. I like to just put on the conference call they have on the available radio station and just do my job for awhile. I wish there was another type of game like this with even more detail and a way to keep it fun, however long you decide to play it.
