Steins;Gate 0 is basically a complement to the first part.
(The events take place between the ending of Kurisu and the real ending, showing what the main character had to go through)
I can't say I liked this part as much as the first one. First of all, if in the first game the plot focused on theoretical fiction physics, here the accent was made on a mixture of neuroscience and psychology. Yes, the overall message is the same, but for some reason it feels different. A little bit worse. I also liked the art of the first game better.
Still, it was interesting to read, for the most part.

Replayed it for the first time since release, still good ol' Steins;Gate. I forgot a decent number of plotpoints so I got some good surprises.
It was notably a bit weird since I also saw the anime 7 years ago, so I got some memories of the anime plot mixed in and was expecting certain scenes to appear that never did.

Basically no romance. Which is fine still a great story. I really like Fubuki and I wish she appeared more.

Playing Steins;Gate 0 right after the regular Steins;Gate was the best decision I could have ever made. It made the entire story even more complete and surpassed all my expectations again like the regular Steins;Gate did. So definitely play this game if you are just coming from Steins;Gate and enjoy! <3

32 hours well spent, enough said.
I'm extra glad about this game's content for the fact that it differs a lot from the anime. The anime had little room to work with so much content the game provides so it's understandable. The thing about the story line, or rather the chapters, in this game is that they are intertwined. It's less streamlined than Steins;Gate, and so it can get messy. Many things happen across many world lines, and the endings occur on different world lines, which cause consistency issues when the anime tries to use all of the plot points across them all. Obviously that wouldn't work out properly, so the anime tweaks the story to get as much as possible in, but it turned out messy. The game explains a lot of things that went unanswered for me in the anime, and the endings are also nice. It really was a great experience.

So I played this after 100 percenting the first game, and after promptly 100 percenting this one, I'll say that although it doesn't quite reach the same heights as the first Steins;Gate, it is still an extremely solid entry in the series that I would wholeheartedly recommend to anyone who enjoyed the first game.
(Also PLEASE wait until you have reached the true ending in Steins;Gate before playing this game)
First things first, the story. This game's story structure is quite different from the first game, while still sharing many of the same themes and story beats. One of the biggest differences is that unlike Steins;Gate, you aren't always playing from Okabe's perspective. This allows you to see into the lives of the side characters and learn more about their thoughts, actions, and motivations, which allows you to get more invested in them as a result. Okabe is definitely still the MC, and the majority of the game is still from his perspective. In fact, all of the decisions that influence the story are still exclusive to his perspective. While I think this is one of this game's great strengths, I also don't think it was utilized as well as they could have. The number of characters you get to shift perspective to is pretty limited, and some of them get far more sections than others. Most of the time, these perspective shifts are a nice change of pace, but there was a point or two during the story where I felt it was a bit unnecessary and tedious. Moving on to the story itself, this game's story is absolutely heart-wrenching. I only cried twice in the first game; this one brought me to tears at least five times. The general tone of the game is much more somber than the first, and following the actions of a traumatized and broken Okabe as he struggles to cope with guilt and loss takes an emotional toll on you. It's not all depressing though. There are a number of truly heartwarming and fulfilling moments interspersed throughout to keep you going, Another thing that I loved about the story is how you get see each and every step that was needed to reach the Steins Gate worldline seen in the true ending of the first game. For me, it made that true ending feel even more impactful and well-earned than before as you get to see everything it took for the Okabe of Steins;Gate 0 to come up with and enact that final operation.
However, it's not all good news. Firstly, I'm not a huge fan of the artstyle change, even though you do get used to it pretty quickly. However, despite this they insist on using some CGs and even a few character models from the first game at times and it feels a bit like whiplash every time. Next, I prefer the old Email based Phone Trigger system over the new RINE one as I liked being able to pick who I am sending messages to, what parts of their message I respond to, and also being able to look back through the logs and read them again at a whim. The new system's not bad, and it's much more streamlined, but I still like the charm of the first one more. Lastly, there is a noticeable increase in fanservice and sexually charged scenes in this game. While by VN and anime standards it's still quite tame, the increase from 1 bad fanservice scene in the original to 3-4 in this one just feels shoehorned in for the sake of fanservice and I'm not a fan.
However, those things aside, I still thoroughly enjoyed my time with this game, and I think it is a more than worthy entry in the series that adds to the emotional weight of the first game while also having a fascinating and emotionally charged story of its own. Highly recommended for anyone who loved the first game and wants more high quality Steins;Gate content.
A very solid 8.75/10 for me.
(I played with the s;g0 patch from the Committee of Zero which cleans up text, fixes translations, adds translations to CGs and Movies, along with other general improvements. I highly recommend you install it before playing the game. Link: https://sonome.dareno.me/projects/sg0-steam.html )

The first game is almost perfect, so this one, which adds a twist to the end, has its flaws. It leaves me with some loose ends and questions. But as a standalone adventure, it's entertaining, exciting, and intriguing. It's a good buy.
