Okay, before I start this review, I want to specify that this whole game is a spoiler for Steins;Gate. So if you haven't played it, you should—it's great.
Steins;Gate 0 starts almost at the end of the original, except Okabe didn't receive a message from his future self. Overwhelmed by the guilt of past events and the hopelessness of the attractor field, Okabe decides to live a normal life while almost cutting all contacts with the Future Gadget Laboratory. By my rendition of events, you might find it almost stupid that he doesn’t even try to stop WW3 that is about to occur, even though he knows it. But the game beautifully portrays his depression and anxiety, to the point where it's really painful to watch him, especially at the start.
Now I want to talk about the quality of the novel. If you don't know, Steins;Gate is part of the SciAdv series, and it was someone's great idea to publish Chaos;Child, the new main entry with a high budget, exclusively on XBOX... it flopped HARD. So now Mages, in need of money, decide to make a VN and anime based on an existing novel about Steins;Gate. So yeah, basically from what I've heard, they made Steins;Gate 0 in a span of a year. I don't know if that's true, but the game really feels rushed at times. For example, some characters sometimes use their old sprite from the original VN that has a different art style, and it happens not only in flashbacks, but at random Mayuri would look like she did in the first game. That said, if the game really was made in a span of a year, that's absolutely incredible because for the most part, it looks great. It has an absolute banger of a soundtrack, and it feels like it has a lot more budget than the original VN.
There's also one character that has a different motivation and arc in different routes and damn, for such an interesting idea, the character absolutely sucks for the most part—that's insane.
That said, Steins;Gate 0 is still reeeeaaally good. Even if we know the ending at the start, it's such a journey to get there. At this point in time, when I talk about Steins;Gate, I mean both the original and Zero, because for me, they are both part of an amazing story.

Steins;Gate 0 rises to the challenge of following up an already convoluted time travel story. We follow what happens after the events of one of the original game's major world lines and how Okabe deals with his decision. This naturally leads to a darker mood, but the game still features some lighthearted sections and Daru.
This time we take frequent breaks from following Okabe as the story jumps between a couple perspectives. It's not only because of Okarin's general attitude towards what's happening, but the game in general relies a lot on dropping hints and information across all routes and perspectives. Of course, the same was true for the original story, but there, each path felt at least somewhat complete. You could, technically, pick your favorite girl, experience her story and leave satisfied. In 0, every route is a piece of a larger puzzle, to the extent in which some end in sudden and anticlimactic ways which will make you go "wait, where's the rest of the story?".
New additions to the cast are for the most part welcome and manage to fit with the OGs rather well. Majority of the original characters were given some interesting roles to fill. I appreciate no longer having to hunt down each individual message exchange for the achievements.
I remember being worried about a Steins;Gate sequel back when 0 was announced, but the main idea behind the story was interesting and the execution managed to succeed. Make sure to play the original first, since this prequel definitely relies on you knowing all the major events.

Prequel to Steins Gate. Again i watched the anime first. But this time anime was not really showing how good VN of S;G 0 really was. It took me around same time as S;G to 100% complete If you were not feeling fulfilled, it is like addictional epidosed which are as importany as the ones in the anime. I recommend playing it right before beating the original game. Because of the moment when Stein Gate 0 is taking place. It really makes it more emotional and memorable. Really recomending playing it. It's as good as the original. You will not be disapointed.
