(sigh, I must update this review, if the game is ever patched to where it will run stable, and not crash constantly, this would be one of my favorite Indies... But it just keeps crashing at launch and other types of infuriating stability issues. These are the only issues with the game, so I still partly agree that those trashing this game for reasons other than stability, are jerks, but if you are trashing it for stability, my bad.)
Whoever is trashing this game is lazy, greedy, and foolish... Yes, it was made in GameGuru/FPS Creator, which is a drag and drop kinda game maker... But, this game has so much love, heart, and passion, not to mention if you give the slow, tedious, and a little confusing opening level where you return home to be transported into the game world, you will find that the game like an old 80's cult low budget indie, has so much charm that it just oozes positive vibes and atmosphere.
Is the game hard? No. Is it complex? No. Is it anything more than a very basic shooter, with exploration, light puzzle solving, and platforming? NO!
This is simply a simple, relaxing walking/shooting simulator, that is more of an experience than a true game.
This is not about challenge, or figuring out complex mazes, or puzzles, this is simply about unwinding and experiencing a very unique narrative that you cannot find in any other game. This is not like TRON, this is a very different world, and yes, they do use text and environmental storytelling to convey a story that I would akin more to a journey, than a traditional game story.
This thing just makes you remember, oh yea, I am a gamer, I love playing all games, this is how I meditate.
The game has some crash issues, here and there but there not a big deal, just beware of long load times, and a very interesting game launcher that adds to the immersion.
This is a game made by an artist, not exactly a game designer, art will make you feel and even generate some wonderfully imaginative ideas, if you get past the simplicity of the game, and let it absorb you into a very trippy and epicly psychedelic adventure.
P.S the game lasts well over 2 to 4 hours, the first two levels are short, the rest are hella long!

The development of Voltage seems to evolve in small steps.
Loading times must be improved further!
Beside that Voltage Super Retro offers an unique visual style, which gives a very nostalgic appeal exploring the vast level segments. The FOV is freely adjustable.
Developers, please take care of this project! Thank you!

*update 3*
Please keep in mind that I will not test this game for a while as of now.(since all my save games got corrupted)
I would like to however point out that the dev(s) of this game are still working on improving and trying to fix the present problems in the game.
Now for me the big problem is the engine, I have played so many of these FPSC/gameguru games by now I have gotten used to the crashes/long loading times and other issues.
The devs of this game are clearly pretty inexperienced, but are doing their best with the available tools. I would really like to give a neutral stance on this game. But I would still like to say, buy at your own risk. There may be crashes, maybe even corrupted saves. But I am sure the devs are dedicated to improve on their work.
For me it's the neutral button for now ...

Had to submit for a refund. This is the second game on Steam I've ever bought that flat out wouldn't work. I could get to the weird launcher screen...but clicking on the tutorial opened a different window that seemed to be a loading window for the tutorial...that never loaded.
On a side note...why does this game need more disk space than Civilization VI? This game is 12.12 GB in size!? Seems weird to me.

Nope. Mechanics are off. Can't turn the music off. Very unsatisfying. Takes forever to load a level. Weird launcher. Got the strange sensation that I was playing an asset flip title by the physics.
I'll turn a blind eye to less than AAA graphics any day of the week, but at least back it up with decent gameplay. But besides that, not sure where those screenshots on the store page are from either. My HEDT with twin 1080tis should be able to piece together something close to the screenshots without spinning up a single fan and didn't see it.
Maybe I'm being too critical of an indie title, but I've seen far better and willing to pay a lot more. Perhaps it needs more development time. But until then, just hold off.
